I felt a series of jolts in my heart, and goosebumps covered my body. The figure before me, Wang Meng, had completely transformed; it had a human head, a serpent's body, and a thousand hands. To my astonishment, a pair of wings resembling those of a pterosaur had sprouted from its back. With a flap, the surrounding cold wind surged, and dust and leaves swirled in the air. With a powerful flick of its tail, it lifted off the ground. Its yellow eyes, sharp as arrows, stared directly at us, while its nostrils flared, releasing heavy breaths. Its long mouth hung partially open, revealing uneven fangs that were both sharp and grotesque. 0

"This is... Shui Lai Tou?!" A Li instinctively grabbed my arm, her face pale as she recalled the terrifying experience of her own transformation. 0

I wanted to comfort her but found my tongue trembling uncontrollably; I could barely muster a coherent word. Instead, I positioned A Li behind me for protection. 0

"How do we deal with this thing?" Liu Zi looked anxiously at our senior sister, still thinking of her as Tu Fuzi, a companion of Old Qiao. 0

Our senior sister shot him an exasperated glance. "How would I know? You can speak beast language, can't you? Why not have a chat with it?" As she spoke, Wang Meng twisted its grotesque tail and advanced a few meters toward us, prompting us all to instinctively retreat. 0

Upon hearing our senior sister's words, Liu Zi suddenly gathered his courage. He bent his right hand into a curve and blew a short whistle against his lips. 0

At that moment, Wang Meng paused and slowly turned its head toward the direction of the whistle. When it spotted Liu Zi, its yellow eyes squinted together in an odd manner. The next second, it exhaled heavily through its throat and slithered toward Liu Zi. 0

Everyone held their breath for Liu Zi as we instinctively stepped back, forming an arc with Liu Zi at the center and a three-meter radius around him. Despite Wang Meng approaching him directly, Liu Zi did not retreat; instead, he took a step forward while arching his back and swaying his hips like a snake. He produced a low, short, continuous sound through his lips using his index finger. 0

"What is he doing? No way he's trying to court it?" our junior brother muttered. 0

A Chen explained from the side, "He's mimicking the sounds of Shui Lai Tou. First, he uses the whistle to attract its attention and entice it to respond. Then he tries to communicate by imitating its vocalizations based on that tone." 0

Our junior brother scoffed dismissively but couldn't help but focus on Liu Zi's unique posture. This guy was stubborn; he wouldn't admit he was impressed. 0

"Look!" A Li suddenly pointed at Wang Meng and exclaimed, "Its wings are tightening!" 0

As soon as the words left his mouth, Wang Meng abruptly raised its neck and, with a sharp sound, spread its wings wide, letting out an ear-piercing shriek that pierced the air. Instantly, a fierce wind erupted, swirling the leaves, branches, dust, and stones that had settled on the ground back into the air. The whirlwind swept across the land like a sandstorm, forcing us to retreat repeatedly, our eyes nearly unable to open against the onslaught. 0

Amidst the chaos, I heard a series of sharp, short sounds coming from Liuzi, matching the frequency of Wang Meng's earlier cry—definitely not something that could be produced by a human throat. 0

My junior brother shouted through a gap in his arm at Liuzi, "I told you to mediate! How the hell did you end up arguing instead?" 0

In the midst of his frantic movements, Liuzi shot back at my junior brother, "This guy is just like you—both are stones in a cesspool: foul and hard... Damn it, I can't take it anymore! Run!" With that, Liuzi shouted and took off. 0

By the time everyone reacted, Liuzi had already vanished without a trace. My junior brother was furious and cursed, "What a disloyal bastard!" 0

Third Granduncle Master seemed to feel responsible for our predicament; he looked somewhat apologetic and insisted we go ahead while he stayed behind to cover our retreat. 0

At that moment, a fierce gust of cold wind suddenly rushed past me from behind, swirling around my face again and again. I instinctively shivered as my legs froze in place, trembling uncontrollably. 0

I desperately tried to suppress my racing heart that threatened to leap out of my throat. Peering quickly through the gap between my crossed arms, I caught sight of a green snake's tail circling just inches from my face. 0

Oh no! At such close range, I could even see the densely packed scales on its tail. My heart raced wildly; my scalp tingled as goosebumps erupted all over me. My mind went completely blank—facing this terrifying creature had obliterated any instinct for survival! 0

We remained frozen like that for nearly three seconds. Wang Meng did not crush me with its thick tail after all. My sense of danger slightly eased as I realized that its target was not me but Third Granduncle Master, who was lagging behind everyone else! 0

Amidst the flying sand and stones, everything around us was shrouded in confusion; visibility extended no further than three meters. Beyond that distance, not even a shadow could be seen. In my line of sight were only myself, Wang Meng, and Third Granduncle Master forming a straight line. The others had either long since fled or were hiding among the debris, waiting for an opportunity to strike. 0

Wang Meng straightened his upper body, and at that moment, I realized my earlier assumptions were correct. The former soldier, Wang Meng, had a remarkably strong physique; his arms, back, chest, and abdomen were all covered in muscles as solid as armor. Now, due to his excitement, he seemed to swell even larger, and his massive arms created a whirlwind of dust, as if trying to intimidate his opponent before the impending fight. He occasionally let out sharp, short sounds from his throat, almost like a challenge to his adversary. 0

Third Granduncle Master must have done something to provoke him, leading to this misunderstanding. Or perhaps the nearsighted Wang Meng mistakenly thought Third Granduncle Master was the troublesome Liu Zi from earlier. I was certain that Third Granduncle Master had cursed Liu Zi in his mind at least seventy or eighty times by now. 0

Wang Meng launched an attack. He carelessly swung both of his "hands" at Third Granduncle Master, attempting to crush him between his thick palms. Although Third Granduncle Master was older, he was surprisingly agile. With a swift movement, he dodged and rolled on the ground, narrowly escaping the two massive hands that came crashing down like the Buddha's palm. 0

Unfortunately for him, this sudden movement caught Wang Meng's attention and redirected it toward me. In a fit of rage, Wang Meng whipped his tail around. I gasped in shock; it all happened so fast that I instinctively bent backward due to my training. The snake-like tail swept past my nose. 0

A wave of fear surged through me, and cold sweat broke out instantly. I shouted, " Third Granduncle Master, are you trying to get me killed?" 0
