The two continued their casual chat, transitioning from football to the upcoming midterm exams, and then to various campus gossip. Time flew by, and before they knew it, it was lunchtime.
"Come on, let’s head to the cafeteria!" Chen Yang stood up, patting his stomach. "I only had a sandwich this morning, and now I’m starving!"
Nezha glanced at his watch. "You go ahead; I have a few things to take care of. I’ll meet you on the playground later."
"What’s so secretive?" Chen Yang asked curiously.
"Nothing much, just..." Nezha hesitated a bit. "I want to go to the library."
"The library?!" Chen Yang looked at Nezha in shock, as if he had just announced he was going to the moon. "You? Go to the library?"
"Is there a problem with that?" Nezha replied, slightly annoyed. "I’m a college student too; is it strange for me to visit the library?"
"No, not strange at all," Chen Yang quickly waved his hands, but the skepticism in his eyes was evident. "Well, you go ahead then. See you this afternoon!"
As he watched Chen Yang leave, Nezha took a deep breath and walked briskly toward the school library. He didn’t come here often; in fact, since starting college, he had probably only visited two or three times, and those were solely to complete assignments that required him to work in the library.
Entering the library hall, Nezha felt a bit out of place. It was too quiet; everyone was engrossed in their books or computers, as if they were in another world. Nezha tiptoed toward the information desk, trying not to make any noise.
"Hello, I’d like to look up some information," he said in a lowered voice to the librarian.
"Of course! What kind of information are you looking for?" the librarian asked politely.
"Uh..." Nezha hesitated for a moment, "Books about dragon myths and legends."
The librarian looked at him in surprise and then nodded, "Third Floor, Mythology and Folklore Area. You can find relevant books there."
"Thank you." Nezha nodded and quickly walked towards the stairs.
Why was he searching for this information? Nezha couldn't quite explain it himself. Perhaps it was because of the ancient book on Ao Bing's bedside, or maybe it was due to the recurring Dragon's Dream, or perhaps it was simply driven by curiosity. But regardless, he felt that there seemed to be some mysterious connection between these Dragon Legends and Ao Bing.
In the Mythology and Folklore Section, Nezha found several related books: "Eastern Dragon Mythology Encyclopedia," "Dragon Legends and Semiotics," and "Worship of Water Gods: The Origins and Development of Dragon King Beliefs." He casually flipped through them, captivated by some illustrations and descriptions.
"The Dragon Tribe is regarded as Water Spirits, governing rain and rivers... The Dragon King resides in the Crystal Palace, ruling over all things in the water..."
The more Nezha read, the more engrossed he became, completely losing track of time. When he finally realized that he was almost late for his meeting with the team, he hurriedly closed the book and prepared to leave. Just then, a familiar figure appeared beside the bookshelf—Ao Bing, carrying a stack of thick books, was walking toward him.
Nezha instinctively hid behind the bookshelf, not wanting to be discovered. He cautiously peeked out and saw Ao Bing placing those books on an empty table before sitting down to read intently. From this angle, Nezha could clearly see Ao Bing's focused profile as he read, along with the cover of the book in his hands—"Ancient Water System Rune Studies."
"Another one related to water?" Nezha muttered to himself, increasingly feeling that Ao Bing was shrouded in mystery.
He quietly stepped back, intending to leave the library without disturbing Ao Bing. However, just as he turned around, a book accidentally fell to the ground with a dull thud.
