The remaining classes were pure torture for Nezha. He forced himself to focus on the textbook, but his mind was a chaotic mess. Unconsciously, his gaze drifted toward Ao Bing, who was diligently taking notes, occasionally nodding in understanding, looking every bit the model student.
"What are you pretending for?" Nezha muttered to himself. "So what if you can recite a couple of school rules? It's nothing impressive!"
Finally, the class ended, and Nezha rushed out of the classroom, eager to avoid the person who had been bothering him. But as soon as he reached the playground, his phone rang. Pulling it out, he saw it was a call from his roommate, Chen Yang.
"Hello? What's up?"
"Nezha, you're in big trouble!" Chen Yang's voice sounded urgent and a bit gleeful. "Something happened in our dorm!"
"What happened?" Nezha's heart raced. "It’s not another toilet explosion incident, is it? I swear, that wasn’t my fault!"
"This is way worse!" Chen Yang exaggerated. "The wiring in the dorm is old, and after last night's rain, there was a short circuit that flooded our entire floor of dorms. The school decided on emergency repairs that will take at least a week. We’ve all been temporarily assigned to other dorms."
"What? What about me?" Nezha panicked. "What about my stuff? My gaming console and my collection of soccer cards are still in the dorm!"
"Don’t worry; the school allows us to go back to collect our things, but we have to move out by six o'clock today. As for you..." Chen Yang paused dramatically, clearly enjoying this moment. "Aunt Taiyi arranged a special accommodation for you."
"Special accommodation?" Nezha suddenly had a bad feeling. "You’re not telling me I have to sleep in the outdoor bleachers on the playground, are you?"
"Not quite," Chen Yang laughed. "It's a single room in Dormitory Building Four. I hear it's the Perfect Scholar Tower where all the school's top talents live."
"Perfect Scholar Tower?" Nezha was momentarily stunned before bursting with joy. "That's amazing! The conditions there must be way better than our rundown dorm! A single room? Does that mean I can sleep as late as I want and play games without anyone bothering me?"
On the other end of the phone, Chen Yang suddenly burst into laughter. "Oh come on, you're overthinking it! Who said a single room means you’ll be living alone?"
"What do you mean?" Nezha's tone instantly turned wary.
"That single room was originally occupied by a top student. His previous roommate dropped out, so now he’s all alone. The school has decided to let you share the room with him since it's an emergency!"
"What? Isn’t that just setting me up for failure?" Nezha exploded, "I don’t want to live with some top student! He’s probably a bookworm who goes to bed early and wakes up early, quoting references in every conversation. I can’t stand that!"
"Heh, you hit the nail on the head," Chen Yang said, his tone dripping with schadenfreude. "I heard that this top student is really impressive—always ranks first in class, rakes in scholarships like it’s nothing, and apparently has a bit of a cleanliness obsession. His lifestyle is super regimented."
"Oh no, oh no," Nezha groaned in despair. "This is going to be the end of me! I’d rather sleep on the playground!"
"Stop dreaming! Aunt Taiyi said this is already settled; you don’t have a choice! By the way, she also said you need to go to the Dormitory Office right now to pick up the key for your new dorm and hurry up and pack your things."
Nezha hung up the phone and kicked a stone by the roadside in frustration. "Damn it, what am I going to do now? With my temper, living with a rule-abiding top student is bound to drive him crazy!"
