Mo Wen opened the bag to find several sets of clothing, some pills, talismans, and a wooden plaque. He looked at Old Lu in confusion; had the old man finally come around? He had asked many times for a storage bag before but had never received one. Why was he suddenly given one now, and what was with the contents?
“Don’t look at me like that, Old Man. We might need to leave here at any moment. If you go out wearing those leather clothes of yours, you’ll attract attention,” Old Lu explained. “As for that plaque, it's your Identity Tag.”
Mo Wen pulled out the plaque; it felt metallic and sturdy despite being made of wood. The front bore three characters: "He Er Gou." Seeing those characters made Mo Wen twitch his lips; it seemed Old Lu still remembered the name he had given him back then. However, he said nothing—after all, it was just a false identity. The back of the plaque featured an exquisite double cloud emblem that Mo Wen recognized as the symbol of the Lianyun Kingdom.
“From now on, you are He Er Gou, an orphan and a herbalist who gathers medicine in the mountains in Lianyun Kingdom. You should temporarily stop using your name Mo Wen outside; don’t ask why—Old Man will tell you in due time. Do you have any questions?”
“Old Lu, does this mean trouble is coming?”
“No.”
“Then why do we need to leave?”
“It’s leaving, not escaping! With my strength, do I need to run away? Besides, it's better to be prepared than caught off guard.” Old Lu bristled; how could it be called escaping? Even if it were true, it shouldn't be phrased that way.
