The cultivation of the Golden Body Realm, like other realms, is heavily reliant on Kung Fu. The operation of Kung Fu allows martial artists to draw upon the latent Law of Power within their bodies to refine themselves. The quality of Kung Fu determines the extent to which the Law can be harnessed for physical refinement, leading to the classification of the Ninth Level Golden Body. Achieving the ninth level signifies mastery of the Golden Body, while the eighth level represents a lesser accomplishment. Although the Golden Body Realm is merely a transformation within the broader Refining Body system, it is a profound metamorphosis—refining not just flesh but also bones through the Law. Therefore, training in the Golden Body Realm is exceedingly painful; if we consider the pain of Refining Body training as a level one experience, then the pain associated with Golden Body cultivation could easily be rated at a hundred. This is not meant to intimidate Mo Wen, but it is indeed a reality.
In the world, most practitioners are at the eighth level of Golden Body Kung Fu; while ninth level practitioners are rare, it is not due to their scarcity but rather because most people are reluctant to pursue it. Failing to achieve the ninth level can lead to severe consequences—lightly, one might become crippled; severely, one could die. Once one’s foundation is damaged, further cultivation in the Golden Body becomes exceedingly difficult. Many people believe that strong offense is the best defense; they think that with powerful attacks, even a Ninth Level Golden Body would struggle to withstand them. Old Lu did not deny this perspective; indeed, in the face of absolute strength, even a Ninth Level Golden Body may find itself at a disadvantage.
Old Lu's desire for Mo Wen to achieve the Ninth Level Golden Body stems from his belief that mastering each stage makes subsequent paths easier. He has witnessed firsthand the gap between the Ninth and Eighth Levels and knows it cannot simply be bridged by attack power alone.
Moreover, compared to an Eighth Level Golden Body, a cultivator with a Ninth Level Golden Body can contain more spiritual energy within their body. In battles at the Transcendent Stage Practitioner level, this energy primarily comes from within—the qi referred to in Warrior Stage discussions—though a cultivator's qi is more refined. The amount of spiritual energy plays a crucial role in sustaining combat effectiveness. While prolonged battles are rare for cultivators, they can occur, especially when opponents are evenly matched; in such cases, endurance becomes key.
"This is Ninth Level Golden Body Kung Fu; take it and study it yourself," Old Lu said as he handed over the Kung Fu manual to Mo Wen. He felt he had clarified some aspects of the Golden Body Realm for Mo Wen and believed that any remaining confusion could be addressed after Mo Wen reviewed the Kung Fu manual. It was essential for Mo Wen to think critically and discover problems on his own for deeper comprehension. Old Lu had not shared everything about cultivating the Ninth Level Golden Body with Mo Wen, but what remained unsaid was not crucial for someone determined to pursue it—he would come to understand in due time. For Mo Wen, the primary allure of achieving the Ninth Level Golden Body was its ability to withstand punishment.
