Chimeras are predominantly feminine, and the rigidly masculine Laws have a restraining effect on them. However, not everyone has the opportunity to embody such a Law. Among the Five Elements Principle, it seems that only the Fire Attribute Law can claim to have an absolute restraining effect on Chimeras. Yet, those who have cultivated the Fire Attribute Law are few and far between. The emergence of talismans perfectly addresses this issue.
While martial artists and Transcendent Stage Practitioners cannot wield Laws directly, they can utilize talismans to execute Law-based attacks. The talismans designed to combat Chimeras are crafted using the principles of pure Yang. As the use of talismans becomes more widespread, a specialized field of body refining has emerged, with some individuals dedicating themselves to the study of Fu Dao. These practitioners have earned a notable title—Fu Masters—who are experts in talisman crafting. The talismans created by Fu Masters can be used by martial artists and Low-Level Practitioners, who represent the largest demographic in this world. Consequently, Fu Masters are respected wherever they go.
Gradually, various factions began to recruit Fu Masters to create talismans for them. While many high-level experts exist within these factions, there are also numerous martial artists and lower-level Cultivators who form the foundation of their development. To nurture an exceptional younger generation, these factions often take them into perilous areas for training. During such expeditions, unexpected incidents can occur at any moment. Even powerful factions cannot dispatch high-level Cultivators to protect everyone; however, equipping each individual with a certain number of talismans allows many dangers to be resolved by the young practitioners themselves.
Within major factions, the status of Fu Masters is quite elevated. When choosing between a Cultivator of the same level and a Fu Master, factions will undoubtedly choose the latter without hesitation. In fact, when recruiting personnel, they often extend favorable conditions to Fu Masters and promise generous rewards. As the art of talisman crafting continues to develop, the role of Fu Masters has further evolved; beyond crafting talismans, they also construct protective arrays for towns and teleportation arrays between cities. This illustrates why major factions place such great importance on Fu Masters.
Talismans come in various types—some for attack, some for defense, some for short-term enhancement of personal strength, and others for sealing purposes. They are classified into four levels: Heaven, Earth, Profound, and Yellow. Correspondingly, Fu Masters are also categorized into four levels; a Fu Master capable of crafting Yellow-level talismans is known as a Yellow Level Talismancer, and so forth—those who can produce Heavenly-level talismans are called Heavenly Level Talismancers.
In addition to combat applications, nearly every martial artist and Cultivator utilizes small protective arrays when resting outdoors. Most of these arrays are pre-crafted, while others can be adjusted according to individual needs. Such small protective arrays are favored by practitioners across all levels since the likelihood of being attacked by Beasts or Chimeras at night is significantly higher than during the day. Even powerful Cultivators cannot vigilantly monitor their surroundings around the clock; thus, Symbol Arrays alleviate much of their burden.
After Old Lu's explanation, Mo Wen gained a certain understanding of talismans; becoming a Fu Master seemed more appealing than becoming a Cook. Moreover, if he became a Fu Master himself, his combat power combined with the use of talismans would likely see considerable enhancement. With this thought in mind, Mo Wen began to inquire with Old Lu about becoming a Fu Master.
