Now he finally believed what Old Lu had told him: even if he mastered the art of tracing back to the source, it would still be difficult to find the power of Yin Yang through other Laws. The level of Law was one reason; the second was that each Law could trace back to the Yin Yang Principle. However, during the tracing process, with so many Laws to consider, it was hard to determine which one was the Yin Yang Principle. Overall, there were too many Laws of Power he did not recognize, and it was very likely that he would mistake a certain Law of Power for the Yin Yang Principle.
Although he felt a bit disheartened, Mo Wen did not give up. He firmly believed that as he deepened his understanding of various Laws, he would surely find traces of the Yin Yang Principle. If not, it meant he hadn’t comprehended enough yet, so he had to keep pushing forward. Old Lu watched Mo Wen, who seemed entranced, and chose not to intervene. After all, Mo Wen would be safe here; what concerned him more was the stack of food he had extracted from Mo Wen to create a Secret Recipe. He needed to study it carefully. As for cultivation, his attitude was naturally to go with the flow—one needed to be well-fed before thinking about training.
...
Mo Wen walked through the forest. He was no longer stopping to feel the Laws of Power; instead, he wasted no time even while walking. Several times he stumbled into ponds or bumped into trees before realizing it. Observing his recent behavior, Old Lu had once again restricted him from heading towards Dahe because in his current state, falling into the river would only lead to disaster.
Unknowingly, Mo Wen had arrived at the foot of a mountain. A strong Blood Stench jolted him awake. The presence of Blood Stench in this forest indicated that a battle had occurred nearby. It was daytime, making it unlikely for a Chimera to be hunting; however, the possibility of encountering a Demon Beast was still significant. Until he clarified the situation, this meant danger.
He carefully surveyed his surroundings and found no immediate threats. Deciding to follow the Blood Stench to see what had happened, he quietly moved in the direction from which it wafted. Crouching behind a rock, he looked towards a cave not far away—the source of the Blood Stench came from there. In front of the cave lay two or three dozen Wolf Beast corpses scattered about; it was clear that a fierce battle had taken place here. After confirming there were no hidden dangers around, he stepped out from behind the rock.
He examined the Wolf Beast bodies on the ground; some had their throats torn open, others had been disemboweled, and some were even ripped in half. The sharp teeth of these Wolf Beasts were stained with their opponent's blood; however, there were no signs of a corpse belonging to the attacked Beast at the scene, indicating that it had survived. Judging by the traces left from this battle, it seemed that their opponent was also a Beast. Although Wolf Beasts were fierce and always fought in packs, they were not foolish enough to attack a Demon Beast.
“Wu Wu…” Suddenly a sound came from within the cave, startling him. However, upon listening closely again, it seemed something was off. He followed the sound’s direction. “Wu Wu…” The noise indeed came from inside that rocky cave. The entrance was small; at Mo Wen's height, he would have to crouch down to enter—likely indicating that whatever was inside wasn’t a powerful Beast.
Following the sound, Mo Wen squeezed into the cave. It wasn’t deep; light from outside illuminated everything within. Inside lay a nest made of hay, now stained red with blood. Crouched in that nest was a Beast whose fur color could no longer be discerned—it lay motionless beside a fluffy little creature that emitted those “Wu Wu” sounds. The large Beast beside it was likely dead.
