"This world is balanced; men represent Yang while women represent Yin. Only through the union of men and women can children be born. Similarly, in your current Heavenly Unity Realm, the fusion of Vitality is actually aimed at achieving a balance, which can also be seen as the tuning of Yin and Yang. With that said, you should be able to understand," Old Lu expressed his hope that Mo Wen would grasp this concept, as he was at a loss for how else to explain it.
"Although I don't understand how men and women come together to have children, I do understand the concept of bodily balance. Old Lu, if you had said this earlier, it would have been much clearer instead of being so vague. Now I get it," Mo Wen replied, finally putting Old Lu at ease.
"You are still a child; you will understand more in the future. If you wish to comprehend the Yin Yang Principle, perhaps you can start from within yourself. However, don't set your expectations too high. If that doesn't work out, understanding one of the Five Elements would also be a good choice—just don't be greedy. Of course, if all else fails, you might have to consider becoming an excellent Cook," Old Lu advised with a sense of satisfaction but also a cautionary note for Mo Wen.
Old Lu then explained the current classifications of Law in the world. The Origin Law alone is divided into many levels. For instance, the previously mentioned Yin Yang Principle belongs to the first level of Origin Law, while the Five Elements Principle and certain special Laws derived from it, such as those concerning space and time, are classified as second-level Origin Laws. Beyond that point, it becomes unclear which Laws should still be considered Origin Laws. Thus, the classification of Origin Laws is somewhat unified in the first two levels, but opinions diverge significantly beyond that. Generally speaking, regardless of the classification method used, there is a common issue: any Law can potentially become an Origin Law; it's merely a matter of rank. Higher-ranked Origin Laws are purer but also more challenging and abstract to comprehend; lower-ranked Laws tend to be more concrete and some even have physical manifestations, making them easier to grasp. However, as Old Lu pointed out, being able to comprehend a Law does not guarantee one can absorb it. Ultimately, what a Heavenly Unity Realm warrior can absorb depends on Opportunity. Everyone desires to acquire higher-level Laws, but historically, those who obtain higher-ranked Laws have become increasingly rare.
For Mo Wen, ever since Old Lu informed him that the Yin Yang Principle is widely recognized as a first-level Origin Law, his goal has been solely focused on it. To gain insight into the Yin Yang Principle, Mo Wen abandoned his previous plan of seeking out areas rich in various Laws for comprehension. Instead, he practiced his Soft and Fluffy Fist daily as part of his routine before sitting cross-legged on a tree stump to cultivate the Transcendence Nerve technique. He chose not to take the Transcendence Pill; although it would benefit his cultivation, he decided to wait until his understanding reached his desired level before using it.
As he operated his Kung Fu, he carefully sensed the changes in his Vitality. He attempted to suppress the flow of Qi to perceive changes in the other two aspects—Essence and Spirit—as well. He discovered that when Qi was suppressed, both Essence and Spirit would also naturally suppress themselves. Once he released the suppression, the restrained Qi quickly recovered while the other two gradually increased until they reached balance.
However, gaining insight into oneself is never easy; this confirmed what Old Lu had said about comprehension depending on Opportunity. Perhaps there would come a moment when Opportunity strikes and understanding becomes clear; if not, one must wait or seek it out. Of course, one could settle for easier insights into other Laws—but for Mo Wen, that option did not exist.
