"You are very clever," the creature controlled by Nakamura said. "Twenty years ago, he discovered the secrets of the formation. Unfortunately, he chose to destroy it instead of completing it." 0

We were trapped at the center of the rune array, and any attempt to touch the boundary would trigger a violent energy reaction. Through the mask, I saw the runes spinning counterclockwise, like some kind of countdown device. 0

"You say my father discovered the secrets of the formation," I fixed my gaze on the creature, "but there are no records of this in the files." 0

"Of course not," the creature rasped with a laugh. "He wrote down all his discoveries in a special place. Xu Hao, have you ever wondered why the floor of your house always creaked when you were a child?" 0

The words struck me like lightning. Memories flooded back from twenty years ago: beneath that floor that always made noise, my father would occasionally get up in the middle of the night to write something. 0

"Beneath the floor," I murmured. 0

"You're on the right track," Nakamura said, "but unfortunately, your home has already been demolished. However," he pointed in a certain direction within the village, "there is another secret base here." 0

"Don't listen to him," Kong Yang warned. "He's trying to divert our attention." 0

But I noticed a hint of uncertainty in Kong Yang's tone when he said this. What did he know? 0

"Time is running out," Nakamura continued. "But before the ritual begins, I can tell you something interesting. For example, why your father was chosen for his bloodline." 0

I interrupted him. "No, it was for his research." 0

Nakamura shook his head. "No, it was for his research into rare blood types. He discovered an astonishing phenomenon: some people's blood changes properties with the phases of the moon. He tried to trace the source of this phenomenon and ended up discovering our experiments." 0

I recalled the experimental records I had seen in Siberia. "So you targeted him?" 0

"Quite the opposite," Nakamura said. "He approached us. He wanted the truth; he wanted to understand the nature of this power. And we gave him an opportunity." 0

As he spoke, he pulled a notebook from within the creature's body and tossed it onto the ground. It was an ordinary work log, but when I opened it, I recognized my father's handwriting. 0

"On this date," I read softly, "the blood samples exhibited abnormal reactions under moonlight. This phenomenon seems related to some ancient ritual..." 0

"Keep reading," Nakamura urged. "See how your father gradually approached the truth." 0

I quickly flipped through the pages. As time progressed, my father's records became more detailed: he discovered special structures in blood, deciphered some ancient symbols, and even sketched diagrams of certain rituals. 0

But on one page, the records took a dark turn. 0

"I have discovered a terrifying truth," my father wrote. "They are not conducting scientific research; they are attempting to summon some kind of entity. The sacrifices—the missing children—were all meant to open a door that should never be opened. We must stop them; otherwise..." 0

The ink smeared over the rest of the content, but I noticed a small line in the corner of the page: "The key lies in Direction. Remember: Zi Wu Yin You, mutual generation." 0

"Direction?" I looked at the runes on the ground. They were now spinning faster, and energy fluctuations were growing stronger. 0

Suddenly, a thought flashed through my mind as I re-examined the arrangement of runes: if I analyzed the entire formation by rows... 0

"I found it!" I pointed at several key points; these runes represented nodes of power along specific lines. Their positions corresponded to several buildings in the village. 0

"And," Zhou Jing added to my thoughts, "the construction dates for these buildings were all during noon!" 0

Honda Miho flipped through her data excitedly. "Each node was established at specific times! This isn't just a simple array; it's a time device!" 0

At that moment, the runes beneath our feet burst forth with a dazzling light. The ground began to shake, and a tremendous force of suction emanated from the center. 0

There was no time left; Nakamura laughed heartily, "The door is about to open!" 0

But I had already grasped the hints left by my kin. If this was a time-based device, there had to be a pattern to follow. The most crucial pattern was hidden within those words: "Action begets life." I looked at the notes in my hand, and something clicked. 0
