“What is this thing?” Old Lu dipped his finger in a bit of salt and put it in his mouth. “So salty! Tastes just like seawater.” 0
“This should be called salt.” 0
“Salt? How come I’ve never heard of this before?” 0
“When you’re thirsty, you look for water. I found it on the mountain, at a pool where the stones were covered with this stuff. I tasted it and figured it was salt, so I brought some back. What you mentioned about drying or boiling seawater should also yield salt.” 0
“The meat is ready, hurry up, let Old Man have a taste…” Old Lu stared at the meat on the grill, no longer caring about what Mo Wen’s white powder was or where it came from. All he could think about now was the meat, which smelled even more delicious than before. 0
“It’s not done yet; we have to wait until the outside is golden brown, or it won’t taste good.” 0
For the sake of “good taste,” Old Lu patiently squatted by the fire pit. 0
0
“Is it done yet?” 0
“Not yet.” Mo Wen turned the meat on the grill. 0

“Is it done yet?” 0
“Not yet.” Mo Wen continued to turn the meat. 0

“Hey, hey! Old Lu, it’s not ready yet; how can you eat?” Seeing Old Lu eagerly tear off a piece of meat from the still-raw beast, he hurriedly shouted, but Old Lu had already put the meat in his mouth. 0
“Old Man can’t wait any longer. Mmm, delicious! Paired with my wine… if it were a Demon Beast, that would be even better; if it were a Divine Beast, that would be fantastic…” 0
“Divine Beast? Right now, I can’t even handle a Demon Beast.” Hearing Old Lu mention wanting to eat a Divine Beast, Mo Wen muttered under his breath. He had originally thought he was quite skilled after coming up the mountain, but he couldn’t even deal with a tiger-shaped beast. Not to mention the Demon Beasts in the Ten Thousand Beasts Diagram, as those beasts weren’t even recorded in the diagram at all. The Demon Beasts listed there had combat power starting at the level of a Refining Qi Realm Warrior. This realization hit him hard; indeed, as Old Lu said, he was just getting started. There was still a long way to go ahead. 0
“How is it, Old Lu? Does it taste good?” 0
“Mmm… compared to what I grill… it’s still lacking just a bit.” 0
Just a bit? That Black as Ink appearance… Mo Wen thought to himself; it seemed Old Lu had quite an unfounded confidence in his grilling skills. Mo Wen dug out two Stone Eggs from the fire pit. 0
“What are these? Can they be eaten?” Old Lu looked at the two Stone Eggs on the ground. 0
“They can be eaten.” Saying this, Mo Wen took a wooden stick and cracked open one of the Stone Eggs, revealing a layer of unknown leaves inside. As he peeled back the leaves, a wild chicken wrapped within was exposed. Perhaps due to being wrapped up, this wild chicken smelled even more fragrant than the beast on the grill. Old Lu reached out and grabbed one without caring about its heat; that little temperature seemed to pose no threat to him. 0
“Mo, what’s this all about?” 0

"It seems to be called Beggar's Chicken, but whether this is actually a chicken, I can't say. Perhaps it could also be referred to as the Begging Bird." 0
" Beggar's Chicken! What a fitting name; it suits the Old Man perfectly." Old Lu, with a chicken in one hand and meat in the other, was too busy to care about his wine. 0
That day, the old man and the young one were well-fed and content, lying on a tree stump while the old man occasionally took a sip of wine. During this time, Mo Wen had been preparing meals for Old Lu, using various methods that delighted him. 0
"Mo, how do you know so much? Have you remembered something?" 0
"I haven't remembered anything; I just naturally do these things when I need to. Perhaps I used to do them often, so it should be called 'familiarity through practice.'" 0
"The Old Man thinks you could become a Cook because you've already grasped most of the Old Man's true teachings. Your skills are not far from his..." Old Lu began his usual display of misplaced confidence again. 0
