Shu Ye was aware that Ye Yan and Qin Nianchu had been blacklisted. The reason given was that they did not serve married women, which felt particularly targeted.
Yun Li had heard this and, at first, was anxious, but now she was no longer worried. Jiang Shiyu was troubled, constantly thinking about how to persuade her to get married. A few married friends suggested some dubious ideas, saying that they should pressure her into agreeing when she was in a state of emotional confusion. They suggested getting her drunk and leading her on, but Jiang Shiyu frowned at the first idea and dismissed it—what a terrible suggestion!
Zhang Yule and Peng Qingyu thought it might not be a bad idea after all. Qin Nianzhe, being single, didn’t understand the situation and complained, “Can we not talk about this? I’m being pressured to get married every day. I finally got out, and now I have to listen to you all talk about this.”
A Yu chimed in, “If you don’t act quickly, I’ll take the plunge myself.”
Jiang Shiyu shot him a cold glance; he hadn’t forgotten that this guy liked Yun Li. “If you don’t want your legs anymore, I can help you out for free,” he joked.
Qin Nianzhe quickly waved his hands, “I’m just kidding! Don’t take it seriously!”
Jiang Shiyu turned his gaze back to the bottles on the table. After a moment of contemplation, he downed several bottles of red wine. As his eyes grew increasingly hazy, he sent a message to Yun Li.
When Yun Li arrived to pick him up, she realized he was truly drunk. The others teased him: “If she doesn’t come soon, he’ll end up sleeping here! Jiang Shiyu, your partner is here; get up!”
Jiang Shiyu’s eyes fell on her as Yun Li sighed and walked over to pull him up. “Why did you drink so much?”
He used all his strength to stand up and placed his hand on her slender shoulder. “If you guys keep getting him drunk, I’ll tell Nianchu,” she warned.
Peng Qingyu raised his hands innocently, “We didn’t do anything!”
Yun Li didn’t believe them because just moments ago Jiang Shiyu had messaged her saying those two had been getting him drunk and taking advantage of the fact that he didn’t have a wife. She felt those two were indeed capable of such antics.
After that, Yun Li stood up to go to the bathroom for a towel to wipe his face. The next moment, her wrist was grabbed, and she fell into his embrace. His gaze was unfocused but his words were clear.
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going to get a towel to wipe your face.”
Jiang Shiyu closed his eyes and said, “I want to take a shower.”
“I’ll run the water for you.”
Jiang Shiyu looked deeply into her eyes and said, “Together.”
Yun Li misheard him as wanting to run the water together and agreed, seeing that he seemed fine standing up. She helped him up and led him into the bathroom. Leaning against the wall with his back to her, she started filling the bathtub with water.
As the water flowed into the tub continuously, Jiang Shiyu had already stripped off his clothes and carelessly tossed them on the floor. When he unbuckled his belt, Yun Li heard the sound of it clinking. She turned around only to find Jiang Shiyu’s gaze fixed on her body; the emotions in his eyes made her shiver involuntarily. She knew all too well what that emotion was—possession, erosion, an endless craving for desire.
With his upper body exposed, he looked as good as ever. Yun Li had touched him so many times that she still couldn't get enough of him. He had already taken off his pants and reached down to pull Yun Li up from the ground, pressing her against the wall and kissing her.
His voice was low and hoarse, almost seductive.
"They're laughing at me."
"What are they laughing at you for?"
"They're laughing because I can't marry you."
"Don't listen to their nonsense."
"Exactly, you just don't want to marry me."
Yun Li's face flushed with embarrassment as she wrapped her arms around his neck, tilting her head back slightly, trying to make her voice sound normal. "I... I want to."
She hesitated, "Not right now."
Jiang Shiyu pouted slightly, breathing heavily. "Then you don't want me anymore?"
Yun Li asked, "Are you being coy?"
"No."
Yun Li's laughter turned into a tremor. "Will you marry me?"
Yun Li shrank her neck a little, her voice soft. "No."
"Come to the bathtub," he said, and the water quickly filled up, splashing out.
She didn't agree with Jiang Shiyu and kept going on, fueled by the alcohol.
Yun Li was both clear-headed and lost in her thoughts; she had already agreed in her heart but wanted to learn from his stubbornness.
Later that night, Yun Li finally couldn't hold back anymore and shouted, "I agree! I agree to you!"
Only then did Jiang Shiyu leave her satisfied.
The next day, when Yun Li woke up, she discovered the ring on her hand.
At a gathering with Shu, Qin Nianchu, and Yu Meng, Shu noticed her ring and exclaimed. "Isn't this ring part of the set with your necklace?"
Yun Li looked at the ring; it was adorned with clouds made of blue diamonds, surrounded by a band of white diamonds. The blue diamond sparkled brightly, and comparing it with the necklace, it seemed like the two cloud tails could connect.
It was as if she suddenly realized something important; she got up and ran to find Jiang Shiyu.
Jiang Shiyu usually worked at Lan Yun Technology on weekends. Yun Li entered his office without any hindrance.
He stood up when he saw her, an old steel pen in his hand. "What brings you here?"
Holding the ring and necklace in her hands, Yun Li asked him, "Did you custom-make this necklace and ring at the same time?"
Jiang Shiyu admitted it generously, taking the ring from her to help put it on her finger. "Yeah, I was thinking about proposing once you graduated."
"If it weren't for those things, our kids might already be in kindergarten by now."
Yun Li's lips curled down slightly in sadness as she reached out to hug him. "Why didn't you tell me? If I hadn't discovered it myself, would you have never planned to tell me?"
Jiang Shiyu held her close and kissed the top of her head. "I originally planned to tell you during the wedding, but I didn't expect Shu to disrupt my plans."
This wasn't the first time Shu had interfered with his plans. After all, she had a good relationship with Hao Hao. There was nothing he could do about it; he could only shift the pressure onto Zhou.
Yun Li's engagement party was held on her birthday. The wedding was set for October 3rd.
Yun Li asked him why he chose that date. His gaze softened, revealing a hint of something darker as he brushed her hair gently. "That day marks our breakup."
Yun Li paused in surprise.
"I can never forget that day, so I want to erase it, replacing it with our wedding so that when I think back, it will only bring good memories."
Yun Li pouted slightly at this and wrapped her arms around him. "Okay."
The wedding took place in Bali. As the grand doors opened, he turned to see Yun Li approaching, dressed in a wedding gown designed by Shu, holding hands with Yun Zheng.
Jiang Shiyu rushed over to meet her, his eagerness drawing laughter from everyone around.
Yun Li couldn't help but smile, whispering playfully, "You go ahead."
Jiang Shiyu shook his head, holding her other hand tightly as he looked at Yun Zheng. "I'll leave Hao Hao in your hands."
"Don't worry! Dad." The word slipped from his lips for the first time, surprisingly not as distasteful as he had imagined.
The two of them walked step by step toward the stage, just as they would walk hand in hand through the years ahead.
Today, they were thirty-one years old.
On this grand day, they were married.
