Guo Qing Yun returned home.
The next day, when the doorbell rang, she went to open the door and found Jiang Shiyu standing outside with a bunch of bags.
Seeing him, Yun immediately pushed him back out, as if afraid of being seen. "What are you doing here? Hurry up, don’t let my parents find out!"
Jiang Shiyu smiled, his tone casual. "What’s there to be afraid of?"
"They don’t like you."
Jiang Shiyu sidestepped her and entered, changing his shoes without a care. "Nah, I have a thick skin."
Deng Ting heard the commotion and came out. Upon seeing Jiang Shiyu, she didn’t react much, only saying flatly, "Put the things in their usual place. I’m not cooking for you today."
Jiang Shiyu obediently placed his things down and left again.
Yun was left dumbfounded.
Jiang Shiyu patted her head as he left. "I’ll come back to see you later."
Confused, Yun went into the kitchen. "Mom, Dad, when did you come back?"
Yun Zheng glanced at her and continued chopping vegetables, snorting lightly. "Can’t you tell? He’s trying to make himself relevant, attempting to brainwash us."
Hearing this from Yun Zheng, a fifty-year-old man, was quite amusing.
Yun’s lips curled into a smile. "So he comes often?"
Deng Ting finished cutting the vegetables and was busy washing the cutting board. She turned on the faucet, water flowing down. "Of course! He comes every weekend, always bringing something. At first, we didn’t accept it and closed the door on him; he just left his things at the doorstep."
"Your dad sent the stuff back with him, but he came back the next day. When he returned, your dad deliberately mocked him a bit, but he remained unfazed and cheerful; it made your dad feel embarrassed."
Yun listened in disbelief. How could someone so proud and confident be treated like this?
Yun Xin felt a mix of emotions and suddenly ran outside.
Deng Ting clicked her tongue twice. "It’s useless for us to stop them; look at Hao Hao—he’s completely focused on him."
Yun Zheng placed the dishes down in the pot with a sigh before starting to boast about himself. "Hao Hao is just like me—sincere and devoted when it comes to feelings."
Deng Ting chuckled softly. "Yes, just like you. But in today’s society, girls who get too deep into relationships are often criticized for being love-struck."
"This is not exactly a compliment," Yun Zheng remarked, puzzled. "What do you mean by 'love brain'?"
Deng Ting began to explain, "It's a mindset where love takes precedence over everything else. When someone falls in love, they pour all their energy and thoughts into their relationship and partner, losing themselves in the process. They may change who they are to please their partner, abandoning their own principles and values."
Yun Zheng listened intently and after a moment of contemplation said, "It seems like our Hao Hao hasn't lost herself, right?"
Deng Ting finished washing the cutting board, feeling very confident and proud of her daughter. "Hao Hao started learning dance at three and a half years old. Throughout this journey, she has faced numerous challenges and obstacles but has never given up. She is stronger inside than most of her peers. Although she cries often, the more she cries, the more determined she becomes. She fights for her dreams, and we have never pressured her about her studies."
Deng Ting and Yun Zheng dote on their daughter, so they have never rushed her in her learning. They believe that health is the most important thing; as long as she has good character and personality, and doesn't cause trouble for society, she will be fine. They have saved up quite a bit since her birth to ensure her future.
Thus, they are not anxious about her education or life choices; everything is planned by Hao Hao herself without needing others to dictate it. "I have never seen Hao Hao give up on her plans for someone else," Deng Ting continued. "When she went through that heartbreak, she was indeed very sad, but she didn't let it drag her down or neglect her studies. Instead, she became even more eager to complete her plans—though she was so eager that it almost affected her health."
