In the afternoon, Yun Li received a message from Shu Ran Guo, inviting her to hang out after work. At that moment, Yun Li remembered that she hadn't told Shu Ran about her situation with Jiang Shiyu. She hesitated, biting her fingertip, deciding against mentioning it. After all, this kind of relationship wouldn't last long; both of them would eventually have their own lives to lead. With the Shi Family keeping such a close watch on him, there was no way he could continue to be out and about.
After work, Yun Li drove over directly. She received a message from Jiang Shiyu and only noticed it after parking. Jiang Pianzai Old Fox was stubbornly hiding things from Gui Shiyu: "How about some spicy hot pot tonight?" "I forgot to tell you, I'm not going out for dinner tonight." The reply came quickly from Jiang Pianzai Old Fox: "Are you with Fu Jing again?"
Fearing he would react strangely like yesterday, Yun Li explained, "I'm with Ran Ran." It seemed like he sighed in relief: "Be safe on the road."
Yun Li and Shu Ran lay on the massage beds with their eyes closed. The female therapist's skilled hands provided a comfortable pressure that eased away the fatigue of the day. Shu Ran spoke with her eyes still shut: "Tomorrow is the weekend; are we going to Ye Yan tonight?"
Yun Li opened her eyes and fell silent for a few seconds. Is Zhou okay with you going? Shu Ran sighed in resignation: "Ye Yan is now the largest shareholder; everyone is his spy. If he orders me to go, I can’t bring any men or women along—only drinks."
Yun Li turned to look at her and smiled a bit: "Not even women?"
"Exactly! Sometimes I think he’s insane. When I’m scrolling through videos or see beautiful women, I can’t help but compliment them, and he remembers it, afraid that one day I might turn."
Yun Li laughed heartily at that. After their massages, the two started on their facials. Yue Rong had provided some food, so they enjoyed filling their stomachs while indulging in the treatments.
By ten o'clock in the evening, they headed to Ye Yan. Upon arriving at their exclusive private room, they ordered their favorite fruit wines and prepared for their special entertainment. Five handsome men engaged in a game of passing notes mouth-to-mouth, stripping, and princess carries. The first round of passing notes was particularly tense; Yun Li nervously munched on sunflower seeds as she felt the strange atmosphere between the men intensify.
As the last piece of toilet paper dwindled down to almost nothing, the final person who refused to take it would have to face the consequences. The man could no longer tolerate the two big guys being all lovey-dovey with each other, so he gave up and grabbed a bottle of strong liquor, downing it in one go.
Everyone cheered and clapped.
To be honest, the atmosphere here was not one of debauchery or excess; it felt more like a playful gathering among friends. They were all familiar with each other, having known one another for a long time. They understood that everyone was just there to unwind, and they had all done their jobs well, serving their guests.
Five men wearing sunglasses began to dance to a popular online song. The dim lights flickered in vibrant colors, and the atmosphere reached its peak, filled with laughter and joy.
As midnight approached, Yun Li and Shu Ran grabbed their bags and prepared to leave. The five men lined up, awkwardly yet respectfully holding back their laughter as they bid farewell: "Thank you, Wealthy Lady Yun and Wealthy Lady Shu, for your visit. We welcome you back next time!"
Shu Ran playfully kicked one of the goofiest among them. "What kind of 'wealthy lady' are you talking about? Call me 'Beauty' instead! Why are you laughing so obnoxiously?"
The man dodged lightly, looking quite handsome behind his sunglasses, grinning in a comical manner as he responded, "Alright, alright! You all can clock out now! You've entertained us long enough."
As they stepped out from Ye Yan, they noticed two figures getting out of a car. Seeing them approach, Shu Ran caught sight of Zhou, whose gaze was cool and indifferent. He walked over to them. Shu Ran didn’t smell heavily of alcohol; her eyes were clear—she hadn’t drunk too much.
"Had enough fun?"
Shu Ran smiled and replied, "Yeah, we’re heading home!"
Zhou maintained his usual cold demeanor. "Let’s go to my place."
His gaze shifted elsewhere, seemingly uninterested in going anywhere else.
Shu Ran: "Huh?"
Zhou slightly lifted his chin as if signaling someone who had arrived for her.
Following his gaze, Yun Li saw Jiang Shiyu approaching in a black coat, her bangs partially obscuring her brows and eyes, adding an air of youthfulness to her appearance.
Zhou took Shu Ran with him as she protested, "No! You can’t go with him!"
He held her waist firmly, gritting his teeth as he said, "You should think more about yourself!"
When Jiang Shiyu reached her side, she scanned Shu Ran from head to toe before taking the bag and car keys from her hand and turning towards her vehicle.
The car ride was quiet all the way, with Yun Li resting her forehead against the window, lost in thought. Time passed quickly as she emptied her mind, and by the time she came to, they had arrived at her apartment complex.
The car stopped, and Yun Li opened the door to get out. It was only at the entrance that she remembered her bag was still in his hands. She turned around and reached out.
Jiang Shiyu lowered his gaze to her fingertips and grasped her hand.
"?" she questioned.
She shook him off, frowning. "Give me my bag back."
Without a word, Jiang Shiyu returned the bag to her. Yun Li took it and rummaged inside for her keys. Finding them, she inserted one into the lock and turned it to open the door.
She stepped inside without closing it, but Jiang Shiyu followed and shut the door behind them. There was no sound of it closing as Yun Li was busy changing her shoes. After putting one on, she turned around to find Jiang Shiyu leaning against the door, his gaze fixed on her with an intense expression.
His stare made her uneasy.
"Speak up! Don't just stand there silently; it's kind of scary."
Jiang Shiyu walked in and wrapped his arms around her, burying his head in the crook of her neck with a soft sigh.
Yun Li's body stiffened, confused by his sudden affection. She patted his back. "Hey! What are you doing? How did you know I was at Ye Yan?"
His voice was low and tinged with a hint of resignation. "You were out so late with Shu Ran; it could only be Wasted Years or Ye Yan."
Jiang Shiyu had long since memorized her whereabouts; he didn't need to think hard to figure it out.
"Alright, it's late and I'm tired too. You should go!" Yun Li pushed him away to change into her other shoe.
He didn't move, his eyes still glued to her as if afraid she might run away at any moment. Without changing his shoes, he stepped closer and embraced her again, resting his chin on her shoulder, holding her tightly.
Yun Li's patience wore thin as her mood soured once more.
"Just say what you need to say; can you not keep holding me?"
He noticed her irritation and struggled to find the right words. His dark eyes reflected a sense of urgency as he finally spoke in a hoarse voice, "Can you not go there next time?"
Furrowing her brows, she turned and pushed him away. "You've crossed the line."
