The relationship between the two was quite ambiguous, and neither of them had mentioned it to anyone else. Yun Li thought it wasn't a big deal; it was just some casual fun, and there was no need to share it with others. Explaining it would only complicate things.
At the Aerospace Research Institute, Director Wang immediately drew a conclusion upon seeing Jiang Shiyu's refreshed demeanor. Had he pursued someone?
Jiang Shiyu paused with his chopsticks, his eyes lowered and obscured by his glasses, making it hard to read his expression. He replied softly, "Yeah."
If he had indeed pursued someone, why did he still look so lifeless? However, today’s state was certainly different from before. Director Wang chuckled to himself as others approached, eager to gossip.
Jiang Shiyu said little; he was afraid that saying even one more word would give away too much. He couldn't let anyone know about their relationship; otherwise, he might not be able to stay at the institute any longer. The teasing and mockery would be enough to drown him.
The cafeteria was indeed a hotspot for gossip. Once they left the cafeteria and entered the laboratory, everyone adopted a serious attitude towards work, free from personal matters.
Jiang Shiyu was eager to escape from there.
Fu Jing was incredibly busy and had only just found time to invite Yun Li out for dinner. After receiving the message, Yun Li informed Jiang Shiyu that she wouldn't be back for dinner that night. She didn't feel the need to explain why.
Yun Li found Fu Jing amusing; ever since they started eating, she hadn't seen him stop smiling. Perhaps it was because people from Ice City naturally had a sense of humor, and once they started talking, they couldn't stop.
After finishing their meal, the two prepared to head back. As they entered the underground parking lot of the mall, they were still chatting and laughing. The echoes in the parking lot were loud when Yun Li heard a familiar voice resonating ahead.
"Yun Li!"
She turned towards the sound and saw Qin Nianzhe and Jiang Shiyu standing by a car watching them. Yun Li's smile slowly faded as Qin Nianzhe jogged over. "Are you here for dinner? Have you eaten?"
Yun Li nodded, "Yes, we've already eaten. Did you just arrive?"
"Yeah! A Yu just got off work. This must be your friend, right? Your brother looks pretty strong!"
Qin Nianzhe chimed in, "He's quite friendly. Fu Jing likes him; he's not bad. How about we hit the gym together next time?"
"Sure! Speaking of which, I haven't been to the gym in a while. I've just been too busy with work. Let's exchange contact information."
As Qin Nianzhe and Fu Jing chatted animatedly, Jiang Shiyu remained by the car, not approaching them. He initially glanced over but then took out his phone, seemingly busy with something.
Fu Jing and Qin Nianzhe exchanged contact details. "Alright, brother, let's plan something when we have time."
Yun Li said, "Then we'll head out first."
"Bye!"
Qin Nianzhe watched the two get into the car with a smile. He noticed Jiang Shiyu still leaning against the vehicle and called out, "Hey, big brother, let's go!"
As Fu Jing and Yun Li's car drove away, Jiang Shiyu straightened up and put his phone away, casting a cool glance at Qin Nianzhe before opening the car door.
"Hey! What are you doing?"
Watching the car disappear down the road, Qin Nianzhe muttered to himself, "You’re chasing someone and leaving me behind."
When they arrived at the community, Yun Li parked the car and headed towards the building.
She pressed the elevator button and turned to Fu Jing to say something.
"I'm here!"
Fu Jing hadn’t responded; he probably hadn’t gotten home yet.
Yun Li tucked her phone into her pocket as she waited for the elevator to arrive.
Ding!
The elevator doors opened, and Yun Li stepped inside, pressing the button for the fifteenth floor and hitting the close door button. Just as the doors began to close, they opened again.
Yun Li looked up to see a man in a cool outfit entering. He glanced at her for two seconds before stepping in beside her.
The elevator was eerily quiet as Yun Li stood with her hands in her pockets, staring at the numbers above.
When the elevator doors opened, she stepped out first, already reaching for her keys as Jiang Shiyu followed closely behind her.
Yun Li turned her head to look at him at the entrance. "You're mistaken; it's your place that's wrong."
Jiang Shiyu lowered her eyes, changing her shoes in front of her. She entered the house without a word and headed straight to the kitchen to boil dumplings.
It felt just like being at home.
"Hey! You can't just come into my house without my permission and eat the dumplings my mom made. That's really rude!"
