Jiang Shiyu watched her twist and turn, a pleased smile spreading across her face as she left. Both of them started work at nine in the morning, and Jiang Shiyu made sandwiches to take next door.
Yun Li was busy putting on her makeup and ignored him. By the time she finished and came out, Jiang Shiyu was still there, but Yun Li treated him like air, pressing the elevator button without acknowledging him. The girl was clearly upset.
When Yun Li changed clothes at the theater, she noticed marks on her neck and collarbone. She cursed under her breath, relieved that the practice outfit she brought today had a high collar. It would cover the evidence.
After work, Yun Li didn’t go home but headed to Shu’s place. She realized that things were gradually spiraling out of control. If this continued, she would stumble again; for the first time in nearly thirty years, she felt that beauty could lead one astray.
She had dinner outside before returning home, where she sat on the sofa playing games on her phone. A message from Jiang Shiyu popped up, and she swiped it away. After that, she continued scrolling through her phone. When there was no further response from him, Yun Li finished her game and exited.
Opening WeChat, she saw a message: "Dinner is ready. Are you back yet?" followed by "Today’s dish is your favorite braised crucian carp."
Yun Li glanced at it before closing the app again. For several consecutive days, she hadn’t returned home and stayed at the Shu family’s place. Jiang Shiyu persistently sent her messages.
After finishing rehearsal, Yun Li was drenched in sweat. Sitting on the floor, she took a sip of water and checked her phone. Jiang Pianzai Old Fox stubbornly concealed his feelings: "Still mad? This was your idea; I’m just following your wishes."
Yun Li tried not to look at it, but once she did, memories of his previous nonsense flooded back—promises of just once or only ten minutes. Clearly, it had been three times, each lasting over ten minutes.
She had a problem. Even if she took the initiative, it was only once. Ignoring it, she put down her phone and continued rehearsing.
After work that evening, she got home late. She grabbed a quick bite of dumplings near the Yun Li Theater before heading back. With her bag slung over her shoulder, she looked down at her phone as she walked. The weather was not too cold for early May, and she wore a short coat, her hair cascading down as her fingers tapped on the screen.
From a distance, Jiang Shiyu spotted her approaching. He had his hands shoved into his coat pockets, watching her as the streetlights cast a halo around her figure.
Yun Li was completely focused on discussing matters about the Dance Drama with the Team Leader and didn’t notice anyone in front of her. Suddenly, a hand pressed against her forehead, startling her back a step.
She looked up, confusion and fear still in her eyes, but when she recognized him, her expression softened. Planning to walk past him, Jiang Shiyu blocked her way.
Yun Li frowned. "Could you please move?" Her tone was polite yet distant, laced with irritation.
Jiang Shiyu lowered his gaze, appearing utterly relaxed yet smiling, looking like a spoiled rich kid. "Have you been eating well lately?"
"Well, it's not like you're the only one who can cook well," she retorted.
His eyes deepened with amusement. "Then I guess I wasted my efforts on you."
She replied, "Is my life bothering you?" Yun Li muttered under her breath, "Neurotic."
Trying to get past him again, Jiang Shiyu grabbed her arm and pulled her back.
"Next time, I'll listen to you," he said.
Yun Li blinked innocently. "What? I don't understand." With that, she stepped hard on his foot.
"Ouch!" Jiang Shiyu released his grip, and Yun Li seized the opportunity to slip away, quickly entering her fingerprint to lock the door behind her.
Through the double wooden doors, she smiled slightly and said, "Bye-bye, no need to see you off."
With a hint of pride, she turned her head and hummed a tune as she walked inside.
Jiang Shiyu watched her lively figure, and the pained expression that had just been on his face faded away in an instant, replaced by a smile.
