The next day was New Year's Eve. During the day, Yun put on a lightweight red cheongsam with a white lining and wore high heels, the hem of her dress swaying gently with her movements.
She arrived at the restaurant on the third floor of the hotel, where they had booked a private room that offered a view of the outside scenery. They had made reservations in advance because, during the New Year, one must eat well. They ordered all the specialty dishes from the restaurant, and fortunately, the portions were small enough to avoid waste.
After lunch, Yun and Shu Ran went for a walk to help digest their meal. Once they finished, the four of them gathered in the hotel to play cards. Yun focused intently, determined not to lose as badly as she had in the past.
Shu Ran shuffled the cards and remarked, "Jiang Shiyu, your job is so heartless; you can't even take a break for the New Year."
"Luckily we're here; otherwise, you'd have to spend it alone. How pitiful," she added with a teasing tone.
Jiang Shiyu lazily tossed out a card and replied, "Yeah! So pitiful."
Cheng Zhou scoffed lightly.
After playing cards for two hours, Yun started to feel bored. "Ran Ran, let's play a game!"
Shu Ran stretched her neck; she hadn't checked her phone in two hours and was starting to feel curious about it.
The four of them were one short, so Yun said, "I'll call Qin Nianzhe."
Jiang Shiyu discreetly exited the game interface and sent a message to Qin Nianzhe. Cheng Zhou observed his calm demeanor but didn't call him out on it.
After a while, Yun exclaimed, "He said he’s busy."
"Forget it; let’s recruit someone!"
They casually invited another player into their game while Yun continued to play support as usual. Cheng Zhou took on the role of jungler, Shu Ran played as a mage, and Jiang Shiyu was the marksman.
From the start, Yun stuck close to Shu Ran until they reached level four when marksman Jiang Shiyu began to poke at Yao.
Yun ignored him and continued following Shu Ran. Together with Shu Ran, they managed to take down two opponents from the enemy team’s Daji.
Initially, Jiang Shiyu was pressured by the enemy marksman; he played cautiously to farm up his resources under the tower before taking advantage of mid-lane minions.
"Can you stop coming to my mid-lane?" Jiang Shiyu complained.
Jiang Shiyu lazily leaned against the single sofa, her fingers sliding across the screen. Who could blame her for having help? She was being pressured by two opponents on the other side, and she needed to level up quickly.
In the midst of the chaotic team battle, Yun Dian randomly unleashed a powerful move that landed right on Jiang Shiyu's head. Coincidentally, the opposing team was wiped out just as they took down the second tower. With that, the match ended in just seven minutes.
As New Year's Eve dinner approached, Yun called her parents and grandmother. Standing on the balcony outside to make the call, she faced Jiang Shiyu, who was seated on the sofa. The girl's outfit was striking—a bright red qipao that accentuated her figure beautifully. It hugged her waist and wrapped around her hips, with delicate shoulders and flowing curls that added to her allure. As she turned slightly, her curves became even more pronounced, resembling a beauty stepping out of a painting.
Her face radiated joy and vitality. Jiang Shiyu's gaze lingered on her, completely oblivious to anyone else around.
Shu Ran leaned against Cheng Zhou's embrace, watching Jiang Shiyu with a soft click of her tongue. Was he still holding onto his feelings?
Cheng Zhou, focused on his computer work, absentmindedly stroked Shu Ran's hair in response. "You just noticed?"
Yun hung up the phone and turned to meet their eyes for a moment before looking away and saying, "Let’s go!"
It seemed like Jiang Shiyu had glued her shirt and glasses to herself; she exuded an air of flirtation that made Yun glance at her repeatedly.
Unexpectedly, it turned out to be a dinner for four. As music from Yan Zhuang played outside, everyone watched attentively while Yun took out her phone to capture the moment for their family group chat.
Jiang Shiyu was busy peeling prawns, glancing at Yun as she placed the peeled shrimp into her bowl. Her eyes sparkled like stars. Jiang Shiyu discreetly took out her phone and pretended to be nonchalant as she snapped a picture of this scene.
Yun was so captivated by the music from outside that she didn’t notice his small gesture. However, when she shifted her gaze back, she found her bowl filled with many more dishes.
She looked across at Jiang Shiyu, who was wiping his hands with an air of casual elegance; even the way he wiped his fingers seemed artistic as he meticulously cleaned each one.
Yun remained silent as she picked up a prawn and popped it into her mouth. She loved eating shrimp but always found it troublesome and messy to peel them herself, so she often chose not to eat them at all.
After finishing the New Year's Eve dinner, we went out to the terrace to enjoy some drinks.
