Yun Li nodded, picking up her wine glass and preparing to leave when Jiang Shiyu reached out and grasped her wrist. Startled, Yun Li spilled the wine in her glass all over Jiang Shiyu's shirt.
She turned her head, the dim light casting colorful hues around them, and noticed how quickly the fabric absorbed the liquid, leaving a large stain. The wet material became almost transparent, revealing distinct muscles beneath. The thin fabric clung to him, and Yun Li found herself staring.
A deep voice rumbled above her: "Was that intentional?"
Yun Li snapped back to reality, responding coolly, "You pulled me, so it spilled."
"Compensate for my drink," Jiang Shiyu teased, a smirk growing on his face as he elongated his words. "Oh, you got my shirt wet and now you want me to buy you a drink? Are you trying to seduce me?"
Yun Li frowned, realizing how her words could be misinterpreted. She quickly clarified, "I meant compensate for my drink, not that kind of compensation."
Biting her lip, she felt increasingly uncomfortable in the situation. Deciding it was best to leave, she set down her glass and walked away.
Shu Ran crossed her arms and scrutinized him. "Don’t think this tactic will work; I’ll be watching you closely."
In her room, Yun Li lay on the bed, the flush on her cheeks still lingering. It was definitely the alcohol kicking in. She splashed some water on her face and then lay back down with her phone, aimlessly scrolling through Weibo.
Suddenly, she came across an article from a relationship blogger titled "Women’s Favorite: The Suit-and-Tie Man." Many comments echoed the sentiment that men looked best in shirts that showed off their toned bodies.
"Half-exposed is the best; a little bit of water droplets is a must—so lickable!" one comment read.
"Who understands the charm of a refined man in glasses? Male stars wearing glasses have me mesmerized," another user added.
Yun Li sat up straight as clarity suddenly washed over her. His deliberate outfit today—and yesterday—came rushing back to her mind.
Indeed, he was deliberately trying to provoke me. That dog of a man.
Yun Li clenched her fists in anger, as if she had made a significant decision. She couldn't just sit back and wait for things to unfold. It was time to fight back. Let’s see who cracks first.
Yun Li began searching for keywords that would entice men the most.
She read through the suggestions: "Don't think we women can't handle this; let alone men." "I love teasing my man; it drives him wild." "A little drink at night, feeling tipsy, blushing as I put on my battle attire, making his eyes go wide."
The next day, Yun Li dragged Shu Ran to the mall. In a cheongsam store, she picked out a few pieces to try on. Most of the cheongsams were red, made of boiled velvet, perfect for the chilly evening when paired with a shawl.
Shu Ran lazily leaned against the sofa and asked, "What made you suddenly want to buy clothes?"
Yun Li glanced at her reflection in the mirror. Her figure was curvaceous, with a slim waist accentuating her shape. Her hips weren't traditionally rounded but had a firm and full appearance. The red cheongsam she wore was made of boiled velvet, featuring a low slit and floral embroidery at the neckline.
"Isn't Jiang Shiyu always flaunting herself like a peacock? I need to fight back," she declared. "Otherwise, I'll always be on the defensive."
Shu Ran's jaw dropped in disbelief. "Aren't you afraid of getting burned?"
Yun Li was confident in herself; if anyone should be worried about getting burned, it should be him. "I’ll make sure he gets scorched," Yun Li said fiercely.
She felt a surge of exhilaration, eagerly anticipating the moment he would set himself ablaze with jealousy.
Yun Li bought two swimsuits, one lightweight and the other made of boiled velvet. With the high temperatures during the day, she planned to wear the thin one, and switch to the plush one in the evening. After that, she purchased two bikinis; this time they were true triangle styles, not the kind that hugged the hips, and there was no shawl to cover her upper body.
One set was purple, and the other was blue, which made Shu Ran clap her hands in surprise.
Under the blazing sun, Yun Li donned her new purple bikini on the beach. She removed her shirt and lay back on a beach chair to soak up the sun. Shu Ran, hesitant to wear a bikini herself, opted for a more conservative swimsuit. Her eyes were glued to Yun Li, unable to look away.
"You look so beautiful! If I were a man, I would do everything I could to win you over," she exclaimed.
Yun Li smiled at her with a playful grin. "If you were a man, it wouldn’t matter at all, haha!"
Her cheerful laughter caught the attention of others on the beach.
