The next day, everyone went to Linzhi to witness the sunrise over Namcha Barwa Peak. It is said that nine out of ten people miss this sight, so they wondered if they would be among the lucky few to see it.
Upon arriving in Linzhi, they had to continue by car to a guesthouse in Suosong Village, where they would stay for the night and be able to see the sunrise the following morning. Yun Li felt exhausted; she hugged an oxygen tank on the bus, taking deep breaths. The others were in a similar state. As the altitude increased, their bodies began to feel more uncomfortable. The bus was filled with heavy breathing sounds.
Jiang Shiyu was not doing much better. He had arrived in Tibet a day earlier than the others and had taken some time to rest, so he was in better shape compared to the rest of the group. Meanwhile, two or three members of the team had ended up in the hospital, and he was able to help take care of them.
Once they reached the guesthouse, everyone began to rest and had no desire to explore. After recovering a bit, they gradually ventured out.
Early the next morning, they found good spots and waited for the golden mountain to appear. The clouds and mist on the distant peaks had not yet cleared; they were thick and cold. Everyone wore their thick jackets and chatted idly.
Fu Jing sat next to Yun Li and spoke with her. "So, after this, are you heading back to Jing City?"
Yun Li rested her chin on her knees and gently shook her head with her eyes closed. "I'm going to Haicheng."
"Aren't you from Jiangzhou?"
Yun Li replied, "I made plans with my sisters to celebrate the New Year in Haicheng."
"That sounds nice. Just you two?"
"Should be!"
"I wonder if Cheng Zhou will go."
"Since he’s not at home, he probably will."
Fu Jing suddenly asked, "Yun Li, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"Do you know that guy over there?" Fu Jing nodded his chin towards Jiang Shiyu, who was casually sitting on the ground, playing with some dry grass.
Yun Li looked over, noticing several women from another group glancing at Jiang Shiyu, their eyes sparkling with excitement at the sight of a handsome man.
"No, not really," she replied.
Fu Jing chuckled, "I thought he might be your ex-boyfriend. He kept giving me dirty looks along the way."
Yun Li's lips twitched slightly. "You guessed that pretty accurately."
In the next moment, Fu Jing added, "I also get the feeling that you belong to him."
Yun Li's eyes widened for a brief second before returning to normal.
"Heard it online; it's quite a popular meme," he continued. "He’s been particularly attentive to you during this trip. When the wind was strong, he shielded you from it; if there were any big rocks in the way, he kicked them aside for you. When I was taking your picture, he even came over to help me adjust the angle. He mentioned you prefer your left side in photos and that while it’s fine not to capture your lower half, your upper half needs to look good—especially making your face appear smaller."
"During meals, whenever the conversation turned to you, he interrupted to steer it away, not allowing anyone to tease you. You must like spicy food; he added the most spice for you in the mix he prepared for everyone."
"He’s always watching you, his eyes on you wherever you go, yet he keeps his distance. The moment I got close to you, his face looked like he’d just eaten something terrible."
At this point, Fu Jing couldn’t help but laugh helplessly.
Yun Li hadn’t noticed these details at all, but Fu Jing had seen everything clearly. She fell silent for a few seconds, still wearing a faint smile. "You must be mistaken; it’s probably someone else who has a crush on him. It can’t be the other way around."
Fu Jing nodded. "Alright then!"
As the thick fog around the mountain began to dissipate and the sun emerged, golden rays illuminated the towering peaks, drawing everyone’s attention immediately.
The biting cold wind and discomfort in their bodies seemed to vanish in that moment, as if turned to ash and forgotten.
The waters of the Yarlung Tsangpo River shimmered with a golden hue, winding and twisting as if coated in gold leaf.
"How beautiful," Yun Li couldn’t help but exclaim, her eyes suddenly moistening.
Jiang Shiyu turned his head; three people stood between him and her, with Fu Jing right beside her.
The five-day, four-night trip came to an end, and on the last day before leaving, everyone gathered for afternoon tea.
