She was hospitalized and took her medication, looking quite disheveled, while he appeared unaffected by any discomfort. How could the altitude not suffocate him?
After leaving Barkhor Temple, Yun Li went to Barkhor Street, where she enjoyed Tibetan cuisine amidst a sea of pilgrims, all in a street rich with Tibetan flavor. She bought a Tibetan carpet for her mother, jewelry for Shu, and a turquoise bracelet for Qin Nianzhe. No matter what Qin Nianzhe said, Yun Li chose this one for him.
She was haggling with the shop owner. A single piece of turquoise cost over two thousand; she wanted three pieces along with two red corals. The owner spoke Mandarin awkwardly, appearing to be in his forties or fifties, insisting that these were antiques and couldn’t be sold for less.
Yun Li thought that two or three thousand for one piece was too expensive and wanted to negotiate. As they were arguing, a man’s voice interrupted from nearby, criticizing the high price of imitation goods and claiming that the genuine articles were not as much of a scam.
Yun Li looked over in confusion as Jiang Shiyu glared at the shop owner, launching into a tirade and pointing out various issues. "I see the material and texture are just like those at the wholesale market; one piece probably only costs a few bucks."
The shop owner was caught off guard by the sudden confrontation and stared at Jiang Shiyu with a tight-lipped expression. Jiang Shiyu picked up a piece, examined it briefly, then tossed it back dismissively. "This is a black market."
Yun Li was stunned; wasn’t he afraid of getting beaten up? But in the next moment, the shop owner’s patience snapped as he shouted, "Get lost! I won’t sell to you! Leave now!"
Yun Li quickly stepped back, fearing she might get caught in the crossfire. She hurried to leave this troublesome place, with Jiang Shiyu following behind. His voice floated back to her, "Most of these are imitations; if you want to buy something real, find someone knowledgeable."
Yun Li lowered her head, preparing to ask Qin Nianchu if he had any recommended shops when she suddenly received a message from Fu Jing.
Smiling, she paused to reply while Jiang Shiyu stood beside her, glancing down at her phone. They had agreed to join a tour group together.
"Do you want to buy turquoise? I found a local guide who can take us to buy some."
Yun Li felt a pang in her heart.
"Ah! I just encountered a scammer. Thankfully, I didn't fall for it; otherwise, I would have lost a lot," she thought.
The two of them chatted comfortably, while Jiang Shiyu stood quietly by the side. Fu Jing sent Yun Li a location pin, and she went to find him.
With the help of a local, she managed to buy genuine Turquoise, and it only cost her a few dozen yuan. She had indeed stumbled upon a black market shop earlier.
She sent a message to Qin Nianzhe: "I bought real Turquoise; I'll bring it back for you."
Qin Nianzhe was working overtime at the company when he saw her message. He replied quickly and then took a screenshot to send to Jiang Shiyu. He couldn't help but feel frustrated—why did everyone else get to enjoy their time with loved ones while he was stuck working late?
Zhang Mingyu entered his office just as Qin Nianzhe let out a long sigh.
"Have you regressed?" Zhang Mingyu asked.
Qin Nianzhe rested his head on his hand, feeling too exhausted to read even a single word. Seeing the documents in Zhang Mingyu's hands made him suddenly alert. "You’re not planning to abandon me too, are you?"
Zhang Mingyu laughed and placed the file on Qin Nianzhe's already cluttered desk, stacking it with other papers. "Tonight, I'm celebrating my anniversary with my fiancée. Help me out here; whether I can get married next year depends on you."
Qin Nianzhe was furious. "Wait a minute! You have a fiancée, and I don’t even have a girlfriend! Don’t you think that’s a bit cruel?"
"Well, that’s just how it is; you’re the lonely one."
Meanwhile, Yun Li and Fu Jing had arranged to take Tibetan-style photos together. The next day, they met at the store they had chosen.
Jiang Shiyu also arrived at the shop alone. Jiang Yuan was still full of energy and happily picked out clothes.
Yun Li had done her makeup, and when she exchanged glances with Fu Jing, she noticed he looked even more handsome than before; his skin had transformed completely.
Jiang Shiyu sat in his chair, catching a glimpse of the astonishment that flashed across Yun Li's face as she looked at Fu Jing.
When Jiang Yuan came out in a change of clothes, he immediately noticed her. "Sister, you look stunning! That outfit suits you perfectly."
Yun Li was dressed in a green and black Tibetan robe that accentuated her skin tone. Her makeup was slightly heavy, with a hint of freckles adorning her face. The beautiful headpiece complemented her long braids, which were adorned with colorful ribbons. She instantly blended into the Tibetan atmosphere around them.
Yun Li smiled and thanked him, but the attention of others shifted to the two of them, creating a ripple of whispers that seemed to say, "Brother, you're out of the picture now."
Jiang Shiyu's expression turned cold, prompting everyone to quickly avert their gazes back to their own conversations.
