He wasn't generous enough to assist him.
That evening, Yun played two games with Qin Nianzhe and quickly climbed from Bronze to Silver. She was eager to reach Gold that night. Qin Nianzhe advised her to take a break; otherwise, she might suffer from High Altitude Sickness. It was then that Yun remembered the possibility of feeling unwell due to the altitude.
During a stop on the Aero Train, everyone was busy wiping the windows to get a better view of the scenery. Yun set her belongings down and hurried to clean the window next to her seat. She had prepared her camera specifically to capture the beautiful landscapes along the way.
On the train, she noticed a group of university students traveling together, their youthful faces lit up with bright smiles and laughter that filled the air. When the train attendant handed her the Health Registration Form, commonly referred to as the Death Status, she chuckled at the three bold words and took a photo to share on social media, captioning it: "People yearn for paradise even in death."
As the train passed by Qinghai Lake, the water shimmered in a clear blue hue, mirroring the sky above. A cluster of clouds hung low, and Yun suddenly felt an urge to breathe in the fresh air and see if it carried a clean scent. Feeling slightly unwell, she drank some Glucose she had prepared to replenish her energy.
Yun woke up at seven in the morning, eager to capture the sunrise over Kekexi. The sun appeared as a round orb, radiating blinding light that tore through the darkness, ushering in brightness. The desolate area around her was barren and yellowish, yet she spotted Tibetan Antelopes frolicking nearby and quickly snapped a picture of them.
Tangula Mountain, Cuona Lake, Kunlun Mountains—these places she had only read about were now right before her eyes, almost dreamlike. As the altitude increased, she began to feel more uncomfortable. Sitting on her bed without moving, she listened to music while gazing at the breathtaking scenery outside; it was overwhelming.
The snack wrappers on her bed had all puffed up due to the altitude changes. On the train, Yun met a man who was also traveling alone. His name was Fu Jing, and he sat across from her. Suddenly, she felt a nosebleed coming on but didn't notice until Fu Jing pointed it out.
After helping her with that, they exchanged a few words. He was from Ice City and worked in Jing City but was on vacation in Tibet. He was three years older than Yun, at thirty-two—a stable age for him.
The two of them were having a pleasant conversation. Yun Qiao Qiao glanced at him a few times; he was tall, had a decent build, and while not exactly handsome, he had a bit of a rogue charm. His speech carried the accent of Ice City, and he was humorous, making their interaction enjoyable.
After they arrived at the station, Yun picked up her suitcase and walked out, with Fu Jing following behind. Once they got off the train, Yun felt her breath quickening.
Fu Jing said, "I booked a hotel in advance. Do you want to join me?"
Yun shook her head. "No, I also made a reservation ahead of time."
When traveling alone, it's essential to take care of oneself; encounters should be approached with caution. The two parted ways at the train station, and Yun took a taxi to a hotel near Potala Palace.
It was recommended by Qin Nianchu, who had stayed there before and had a good experience. The hotel was well-equipped with facilities and had a Tibetan-style decor. On the third floor, there was an observation deck that offered a panoramic view of Potala Palace, allowing guests to enjoy the beautiful scenery while sipping coffee.
After checking in, Yun went straight to the observation deck. She ordered a latte and sat down to admire the Potala Palace bathed in sunlight. Her breathing was still somewhat labored, but it was manageable.
She sent a photo to Shu Ran with the message: "Look, I’ve arrived! It’s so beautiful."
In the picture, Yun had her long curly hair down, wearing a trench coat and wrapped in a gray scarf. The wind tousled the strands around her temples as she squinted slightly against the light, her expression cool and calm.
Suddenly, she noticed someone approaching. She looked up to see several men bustling in her direction. The one leading them wore a gray trench coat and had an indifferent expression. A watch on his wrist made his hand appear even more refined.
Yun was taken aback. Could it be? Was she hallucinating due to high altitude sickness? She blinked rapidly to confirm her sight; it really was him.
However, Jiang Shiyu seemed not to notice her as he sat down at a large table with several others, including a woman.
"Brother, this hotel is really nice! Since it's our first team-building event, let’s take a group photo! It’s perfectly aligned with Potala Palace; how meaningful!" Jiang Yuan exclaimed.
Everyone agreed that it was a good idea. Yun sat in the corner while everyone’s attention turned towards Potala Palace; no one noticed her tucked away in the shadows.
What a coincidence! Just moments ago, she almost thought he had followed her on purpose.
But she had blocked him on WeChat, so he couldn't see her Moments. Moreover, Ran Ran wouldn't betray her. Jiang Yuan handed his phone to the waiter, who took a couple of pictures of the group.
