He hurt her, and he knew it. He wanted to make amends, to atone for the pain he had caused. 0

"We can never go back," she said. The innocence and beauty of the past were gone forever. 0

Jiang Shiyu's palms trembled as he held her tightly. 0

Yun Li left, wiping away her tears as she departed from this place filled with memories. She hated Jiang Shiyu's arrogance, resented him for abandoning her, and loathed his stubbornness and deceit. Yet, at the same time, she felt a pang of sympathy for his plight. 0

The sky gradually darkened. 0

At eight o'clock in the evening, Shu Ran arrived at Yun Li's house. She opened the door and noticed that the lights were off. "Isn't Tian home?" she muttered to herself. 0

She changed her shoes and called out, "Hao Hao, are you in there?" 0

There was no response. She opened the bedroom door to find a slender figure sitting on the windowsill, hugging herself as she gazed outside. 0

Shu Ran was startled and gently called out, "Hao Hao, what's wrong?" 0

She was afraid that Yun Li might harm herself like she did a few years ago, her voice trembling involuntarily. 0

Shu Ran softly turned on the light. Yun Li squinted as her eyes adjusted to the brightness. Seeing her frail form sitting there without any sharp objects eased Shu Ran's worry just a little. 0

She looked too thin. Shu Ran wrapped her arms around Yun Li's shoulders, feeling how little flesh there was on her arms. Unable to hold back her emotions, Shu Ran's eyes grew warm as she gently asked, "What’s wrong? Talk to me." 0

Yun Li's eyes were swollen, her nose red, and her face looked weary. She shook her head lightly. "I’m fine; I just need to sit for a while." 0

"Shall we have hot pot? I forgot to wash the vegetables; I’ll do it now." 0

Shu Ran hugged her tightly. "Don't move; I'll wash them. Just sit on the sofa, okay?" 0

Yun Li nodded and shifted down to put on her slippers, her hair cascading smoothly down her back. 0

Shu Ran helped her up while Yun Li smiled faintly to reassure her. "I’m fine; you don’t need to worry. I saw a doctor today, and he said I’m already better." 0

Shu Ran locked eyes with her, and seeing Yun Li’s apprehension about whether she would believe her, Yun Li added earnestly, "Really." 0

"Has Jiang Shiyu bullied you again?" she asked. 0

Yun Li paused, and Shu Ran immediately exploded, "I knew it!" 0

She quickly dialed Cheng Zhou's number, and he picked up almost instantly. Before he could say anything, Shu Ran commanded, "You need to go and beat up Jiang Shiyu right now. I want to see his injury report." 0

Cheng Zhou frowned. "Did he provoke Yun Li again?" 0

Provoked? That's an understatement. My Hao Hao is about to shatter, Shu Ran said, her voice unexpectedly choked with emotion. Cheng Zhou felt a twinge of unhappiness at her words. 0

"Alright, I'm on it. You two stop crying together; it's quite pitiful." 0

Shu Ran hung up the phone, and Yun Li smiled affectionately. "You're so good." 0

Shu Ran huffed, her eyes still red. "Who told you to be my good sister?" 0

"From now on, don't cry for him anymore. He's not worth it." 0

Yun Li nodded with a smile. 0

Cheng Zhou drove to Xiangyuan No. 1 and arrived at the Nineteenth Floor. The door was ajar, so he entered to find the place shrouded in darkness, filled with a strong and acrid smell of smoke. 0

He turned on the light and heard a soft click of disapproval. 0

Cheng Zhou approached to find Jiang Shiyu slumped on the sofa, his hand shielding his eyes from the sudden brightness, unable to open them. 0

When Jiang Shiyu realized it was Cheng Zhou, he coldly averted his gaze and took another drag from his cigarette. 0
