"Yun, listen to me." His voice was low, tinged with annoyance.
"He Lin Cheng, go ahead. If anything unexpected happens, just call me."
Through the phone screen, Jiang Shiyu's displeasure was palpable.
He snapped, "What are you waiting for? The director will be here any minute."
Yun's nerves tightened at his words, and she nodded repeatedly. "Senior, you go first!"
He Lin Cheng didn't linger and pressed the elevator button.
As the elevator doors closed and He Lin Cheng disappeared, the director immediately quieted down, watching Yun as she crouched down and then broke into an angelic smile.
It was truly a mix of surprise and danger; Yun finally felt her heart settle.
Yet, she still felt a lingering unease.
She dared not approach the director as they locked eyes, instead leaning against the wall outside the door. "When will you come?" she asked.
Jiang Shiyu replied, "Turn your face towards me."
Yun turned her phone around, her beautiful face still showing signs of shock.
Jiang Shiyu's sharp brows furrowed slightly. "Let’s see if you dare bring another man home."
Yun glanced at the director and then back at Jiang Shiyu's face. "Are you doing this on purpose?"
Jiang Shiyu smirked. "What do you mean on purpose?"
He continued, "I didn’t say you could bring He Lin Cheng home." In the director's mind, she was its mother and he was its father; naturally, he had to defend their home from other wild men.
"Little Director," he added with a wicked grin, "if your mother dares to have another chance, remember to bite that wild man directly—just don’t be too bloody; your mother might get scared."
The director understood and barked in agreement.
Yun was speechless. "Hurry up and come take it away."
Upon hearing this, the director immediately lay down on the ground in a pitiful manner.
Yun realized that the director wasn’t an ordinary Samoyed; it understood human speech. She refrained from saying anything hurtful to the dog and went inside, leaving the director alone in the living room for a while.
She entered the bedroom to talk with Jiang Shiyu.
"You should say a few more words; the director must be crying," Jiang Shiyu teased.
Yun put down her bag and sat on the small sofa, the shock she had just experienced already fading away.
"How much longer do you have?"
Jiang Shiyu looked at her, his gaze heavy on her face. The question sounded in his ears as if he were asking when he would be home.
"Yun, do you miss me?" His voice was naturally pleasant, low and enticing in the quiet environment.
Yun seemed to pause for a moment before quickly cutting off that thought that disturbed her heartstrings.
"Can you answer my question, Hao Hao?" Her tone had grown cold.
"Two more months," he replied.
"Two months?" Yun was taken aback.
"Why didn’t you say it would take so long before?"
Jiang Shiyu raised an eyebrow, looking quite pleased. "You didn’t ask."
Yun felt extremely frustrated; she propped her elbow on her thigh and bent over, resting her palm against her forehead, her bangs falling down and partially obscuring her brows and eyes. The screen only showed her forehead and bangs.
"Fine, I get it." Yun didn’t want to continue chatting aimlessly with him; he always had a knack for being inappropriate and would probably say something ridiculous soon.
As she prepared to hang up on Jiang Shiyu, he immediately said, "Yun."
Yun paused her finger above the button, her expression indifferent as she asked, "What is it?"
"Don’t bring any wild men home." His voice lowered slightly, and his peach blossom eyes narrowed dangerously, carrying a clear warning.
Yun shot him a glance and retorted, "None of your business."
Then she quickly hung up the phone.
Looking at the already disconnected screen, Jiang Shiyu let out a pleased click of his tongue, revealing his sharp teeth; he knew how to bite back.
