Chi Zhi Yu looked utterly dejected, as if he were still reeling from a recent breakup.
"Married? Isn't he afraid of death's thrill?" Yun Li remarked.
Jiang Shiyu took a swig of whiskey, casting a cold glance at him before shifting her gaze away. She said she didn't want to wait any longer.
I never intended for her to wait for me; I just hoped she would leave a small opening for me to slip through. But she had sealed that gap, leaving me no chance for redemption. His expression was pained, his voice unusually choked. Chi Zhi Yu felt as if he had discovered a new continent.
He secretly recorded it on his phone. Why should anyone give you a chance? What good is your apology?
He oddly agreed with that sentiment, a sardonic smile creeping onto his face. Yes! What am I worth?
"Almost done," Qi Hao said, frustration evident in his voice. "We were so close to being together." He felt trapped, his eyes reddening as he spiraled in place, unable to escape.
"Hey, what if Yun Li gives you a little opening? But she's married now; you can't just take her away, can you?"
Jiang Shiyu laughed, like a child who had just received a piece of candy. "I'm willing to be the other woman."
"Damn it, Jiang Shiyu! Can you have some principles?" Chi Zhi Yu couldn't help but scold him. Yet he felt touched by those words; despite the reprimand, his heart was filled with an overwhelming bitterness.
Would having principles bring Hao Hao back? He scoffed at Chi Zhi Yu's question. No, she wouldn’t turn back now.
Jiang Shiyu took another gulp and covered his eyes with one hand, wiping away tears with his palm. "I've really lost her forever," he said, each word heavy with sorrow.
"You didn't say that before. You used to say as long as Yun Li was happy, it didn’t matter who she was with."
"Are you regretting it now?"
Jiang Shiyu wiped away his tears and lowered his hand, fury igniting in his eyes. "Damn right I'm regretting it! What's wrong with that? Hao Hao doesn’t like Yu Jinhang; he can't give her happiness either."
Great, now we’re off-topic.
Chi Zhi Yu chuckled and asked him, "What age are you now? Fifteen or eighteen?"
"You bastard." Jiang Shiyu couldn't stand being treated like an idiot by Chi Zhi Yu.
Even in his drunken state, he was well aware of his own age.
Jiang Shiyu spent the entire night drinking at the bar. If it weren't for Shi Yi's appearance, he might have forgotten that Qi Hao was about to start test flights soon.
When Jiang Shiyu finally sobered up, Shi Yi came in from outside and poured him a glass of warm water.
Jiang Shiyu took a sip, his head still throbbing.
Shi Yi looked at him coldly and mocked, "I really don't know who you resemble. Jiang Hao certainly doesn't have the genes for deep affection."
Jiang Shiyu shot her a cool glance, "Envious? You’ll never enjoy that in this lifetime."
Shi Yi didn't want to argue with him. "You've been too impulsive lately. People around you have noticed you've been with Yun Li several times. If I hadn't stopped you from going to Paris to see her, your family would know about your rekindled romance."
"Oh, wait, it’s not rekindled; it’s completely extinguished."
Her words made Jiang Shiyu's heart clench with anger. He lay down and gave up, saying, "You're right; it can't be reignited. You should find someone else to build your dreams."
Shi Yi frowned. "Are you really willing to let all your efforts go to waste just like that?"
Jiang Shiyu closed his eyes and couldn't help but scoff. "My efforts have already been extinguished. Spending more energy on this is meaningless."
Shi Yi sneered at his resignation. "If it's extinguished, just add some sparks. If that doesn't work, throw in more gunpowder. It will ignite eventually."
Ba Du insisted on coming over. "Giving up because of a little setback? Fine then, when Yun Li gets married, I'll broadcast it nationwide for free, so you can watch her with another man."
"I'll be sure to inform you the moment she has a child, so you can see her walk out of the delivery room with someone who isn't you—the father of her child is another man. At the full moon celebration, you'll witness their happy family of three."
Shi Yi was furious. Although Jiang Shiyu hadn't grown up by her side, she knew his temperament well enough; this scene would definitely provoke him deeply.
As expected, just hearing those words made him unable to bear it any longer, let alone imagining that scenario. He threw off the covers and got out of bed forcefully.
Shi Yi raised an eyebrow knowingly and asked, "Where are you going?"
"How are you going to act as CEO if you're just here wasting time while Qi Hao is about to test fly?"
Shi Yi smirked, unable to hold back a laugh. "What an ambitious man."
