Yun Li knew that Zhao Mo's report was not as simple as it seemed. She recalled how Jiang Shiyu had warned her before. At that time, he had already figured things out and, just like before, resolved the matter without her knowledge, never showing his face to her.
When Zhao Mo found out that Deng Ting was aware of the situation, she couldn't believe that Zhao Mo was such a person. She called to check on Yun Li's safety and informed Deng Ting about it. That same day, Deng Ting and Yun Zheng flew to Jing City.
Deng Ting felt both heartbroken and regretful. Wiping away her tears, she promised, "It's all my fault for being so impulsive and introducing you to such a terrible person. From now on, I won't force you into any more blind dates. You can do whatever you want; I won't pressure you anymore."
Yun Li's eyes were red as well. "Mom, it's not your fault. Please don't blame yourself."
Yun Zheng patted Deng Ting on the back and said, "Come on, stop crying. If that kid hadn't been sent away, I would have beaten him to a pulp."
"Uncle, Zhao Mo got beaten up before he was sent away; several of his bones were broken. He almost lost his life. You don't need to take action; someone else will handle it," Shu interjected.
"How do you know?" Yun Zheng asked.
"A person hired by Cheng Zhou told me," Shu replied.
Yun Li bit her lip, feeling a mix of emotions swirling inside her.
Deng Ting called the matchmaker who had introduced them and scolded her thoroughly, questioning why she would introduce anyone like that here. There was no need for such connections; after venting her anger, she blocked and deleted the matchmaker's contact.
Deng Ting and Yun Zheng planned to stay with her for a while. That night, after Yun Li fell asleep, Deng Ting pulled Shu aside to ask about Yun Li's condition. "How has she been feeling lately?" Deng Ting asked anxiously, her eyes red and on the verge of tears; she was deeply worried.
Yun Li had always been cherished like a precious gem by the family.
Shu patted Deng Ting's hand reassuringly. "Auntie, don't worry; I'm here for her. I won't let anything happen."
At that moment, Deng Ting still felt regretful. "Why did I have to push her into marriage? If I hadn't arranged that blind date, none of this would have happened. I just wanted her to see other excellent men and move on sooner; I didn't expect it to turn out this way."
Yun Li's state had been unstable for a while now; both Deng Ting and Yun Zheng were aware but dared not ask. Yun Li kept everything hidden from them because she didn't want her parents to worry; they pretended not to know.
Over the years, they relied on Shu to keep them updated about Yun Li's condition.
After crying for a while, Deng Ting received comfort from Shu. Meanwhile, inside the room, Yun Li leaned against the door and listened quietly. She bit down on her lip to stifle any sounds of crying; over the years, she thought she had hidden everything well, but little did she know that her parents had already noticed long ago.
Yun Li felt a deep sense of guilt and pain after worrying them for so many years. She returned to her bed and took out her phone to message the doctor. She had been relying on medication for treatment from the primary physician, and now she wanted to recover quickly.
In recent days, Deng Ting and Yun Zheng had been by her side, helping her manage her emotions. She slowly began to regain her strength, and after work, her father would come to pick her up. Everyone at the theater envied Yun Li for having a father who still picked her up like he did when she was a child, even now that she was grown.
As the New Year approached, Yun Li had to participate in the Spring Festival Gala and couldn't go home for the holiday. Deng Ting and Yun Zheng also decided not to return to Jiangzhou for the New Year; instead, they would stay in Jing City and pick her up for a reunion dinner as soon as her performance ended.
During these days, Yun Li had come to understand that she wanted to start anew, but there were some things she needed clarity on; otherwise, she couldn't find peace of mind. After the New Year, Deng Ting's work could no longer be postponed, and she had to return. Yun Zheng planned to stay in Jing City to take care of Yun Li.
Yun Li refused, insisting that he and their mother go back to Jiangzhou while she stayed at the Shu Family's residence. With Deng Ting and Yun Zheng around, she felt reassured.
Before returning home, she took a trip abroad. She casually entered a bar on the streets of Paris. This time, she didn't order the strongest drink; instead, she sipped on a regular Special Cocktail that wasn't too strong but gave her some courage.
She sat there all evening as more and more people came in to drink. However, it was a quiet bar, not too noisy. She kept ordering drink after drink until someone suddenly snatched the glass from her hand.
Without looking up, she lowered her eyelids slightly, finally letting herself relax. Yun Li's gaze was clear as she settled the bill without paying attention to the person beside her before stepping outside with steady footsteps that showed no sign of intoxication.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly trying to draw her out! Jiang Shiyu followed her back to the hotel. As they waited for the elevator, Yun Li pressed the button for the ninth floor without asking which floor he was on.
Upon reaching the ninth floor, Yun Li took out her room card and opened the door to her room. She walked in without closing it behind her, and Jiang Shiyu followed closely behind before shutting the door once inside.
