After Yun Li left, he sat on the sofa for a long time. Jiang Shiyu had only slept for four hours; she left at six in the morning to fly back to the country and rush to Feitian to handle some affairs. Qi Hao and his team had developed five early warning aircraft, pouring all their efforts into these projects. Qi Hao was equipped with a powerful radar system known as Phased Array Radar.
This radar consisted of multiple radiating units, each capable of independently transmitting and receiving electromagnetic waves. By controlling the phase of each unit, it could achieve rapid scanning and flexible targeting of radar beams, boasting advantages such as long detection range, strong anti-jamming capability, and multi-target tracking. Moreover, Qi Hao also possessed highly intelligent data processing capabilities, which made the Ministry of National Defense pay special attention to its development. After waiting so long, Jiang Shiyu was finally about to see it come to fruition.
Yun Li continued to be busy. After a long day, she returned home in the evening and unexpectedly ran into Zhao Moran downstairs. She hadn’t anticipated that he would come looking for her.
"What brings you here?" she asked.
"I don’t know; I just drove here without realizing it. Have you eaten?" he replied.
"I have," she said.
"I just finished my work and haven’t eaten yet. Can you join me for a meal?"
Yun Li was reluctant, especially since it was so late and inconvenient.
"Sorry, Mr. Zhao, but I'm not really available," she declined.
Zhao Moran's face stiffened slightly after being rejected once or twice.
"Let’s be straightforward; we’ve known each other for quite some time. I believe you can see my feelings for you. Since we are both suitable for each other, why not be together? It would also put our families at ease."
Yun Li was taken aback by his words; she hadn’t been in contact with him for a long time because he was outside her considerations. She thought her refusal had been clear enough.
"Mr. Zhao, I thought someone as smart as you would understand my meaning. I apologize if I’ve done anything to give you the wrong impression; I have no feelings for you, and we are not suited for each other."
Zhao Moran's expression darkened as he realized that despite his polished appearance, he had misjudged himself as a gentleman.
After finishing her words with a nod, Yun Li turned to leave, but Zhao Moran seized her arm and pulled her back with a force that made her heart race. Her hair fell forward as she widened her eyes and raised her voice, "What are you doing?"
Zhao Moran, now angry and embarrassed, said, "I've given you so much time; you've wasted so much of my time—don’t you think I deserve an explanation?"
Yun Li struggled against the overwhelming strength of the man. He had a fitness routine that made his power frighteningly strong, and her wrist was already beginning to throb painfully. The skin around it had turned red.
It was late, and the cold air outside meant there was no one around.
“Mr. Zhao, I never said I would consider you. I don’t need to explain myself for your ridiculous timing,” she snapped.
Zhao Moran wasn’t in a hurry; he was contemplating his next move. However, upon seeing Yun Li’s video of her mesmerizing nine-tailed fox dance, he felt a surge of wicked desire. The woman on stage and the one offstage were entirely different; he desperately wanted to possess this unpredictable woman.
With a twitch at the corner of his mouth, Zhao Moran dragged Yun Li toward the building. Panic surged within her as she shouted, “Help! Is anyone there?”
In the next moment, she was slammed against the wall. Even with her thick clothing, the impact left her back aching painfully. She didn’t have time to dwell on the pain and bolted for the elevator, where there was a back door to escape.
But Zhao Moran wouldn’t let her have her way. He once again seized her arm and tightened his grip around her neck, pressing her against him.
Yun Li summoned all her strength and slapped him hard across the face. The force of it made her palm sting and turn red with pain.
Zhao Moran stumbled back, stars dancing in his vision. He hadn’t expected this seemingly soft woman to possess such strength.
Yun Li's core strength and physical abilities weren’t just for show; although she couldn’t overpower him completely, she certainly had enough force behind her strikes. Seizing the opportunity, she dashed outside into the biting cold air. The dark sky loomed overhead, making it hard for her to breathe as her fear intensified. She ran quickly along the path she had taken earlier and finally spotted familiar figures ahead.
Shu Ran was arguing with Zhou, standing in front of each other with Shu Ran crossing her arms and pouting. Suddenly, she focused on Yun Li running toward them, with a man chasing closely behind.
Zhao Moran sprinted after her and grabbed a handful of her hair, yanking it back.
Yun Li screamed in pain—not just from the physical hurt but from sheer terror; her voice echoed through much of the neighborhood.
Just as Zhao Moran was reveling in his triumph, he was suddenly struck by someone who dislocated his arm and kicked him away.
Yun Li fell into Shu Ran’s arms, who was equally startled, her heart racing as if it might leap out of her chest.
Zhou looked down at Zhao Moran from a higher vantage point and pulled out his phone to call the police.
Shu Ran comforted Yun Li, saying softly, “It’s okay now. You’re safe here.”
