His voice trembled with emotion, a magnetic tone laced with reluctance as he uttered each word: "I am going to lose her."
The boss was taken aback; he had never seen Jiang Shiyu like this before. A woman accompanied by two burly men appeared and took Jiang Shiyu away. The boss recognized the woman; she was the secretary of Jiang Shiyu's mother.
Yun Li had stayed at home for five days, but Yun Zheng urged her to return to school. Moreover, a caregiver had been hired at home, so she was no longer needed to help out. Reluctantly, Yun Li boarded a plane back to Jing City.
In the past few days, Jiang Shiyu had rarely replied to her messages, which filled her with a sense of unease. She had called him, but he didn’t answer and ignored her questions, brushing them aside completely. This left Yun Li feeling quite distressed.
On the weekend, Yun Li went to Jinghua Hangda to find him. She waited for a long time at the school gate, but he still did not come out. "Come out so we can talk, Hao Hao," she texted, but it felt like her message had vanished into thin air.
Biting her lip in frustration, Yun Li called Qin Nianzhe.
"Hi Yun Li, are you looking for Brother Yu? He went to a gathering; didn’t you know?"
Yun Li felt a surge of urgency. "What gathering?"
"He said it was organized by a friend he doesn’t know well, so he didn’t go. I know the address; I’ll send it to you."
"Okay, thank you." After hanging up, Yun Li received the address from Qin Nianzhe. It was in a villa area in the southern suburbs.
With a fluttering heart, Yun Li took a taxi there. As the cab stopped in front of the European-style villa, her anxiety deepened. She pressed the doorbell, and a middle-aged man answered, "Hello, may I help you?"
"Hello, I'm looking for Jiang Shiyu. Is he here?"
After a moment of silence, someone replied, "Please come in."
The door opened automatically, and Yun Li walked through Zheng Yuan to the entrance. A middle-aged man stood there, welcoming her inside.
The sounds of laughter and chatter from the second floor reached Yun Li's ears. As she pushed the door open, she saw a mix of men and women dancing and playing games inside, the air thick with the scent of alcohol.
One boy in a colorful shirt and black suit pants eyed her with an unkind gaze. "Is this the new waitress?"
The music stopped, and everyone turned to look at her in response to his words. The disdainful expressions made Yun Li feel uncomfortable.
She stood tall, calmly surveying the scene. "I'm looking for Jiang Shiyu. Is he here?"
The girls nearby couldn't help but snicker. "Another admirer? Bei Bei is going to have a headache."
A boy slowly descended from the third floor, frowning when he spotted Yun Li. He quickly pulled his hands from his pockets and hurried down the stairs, followed by a beautiful girl.
"Hey, Jiang Shiyu, slow down!"
When Yun Li saw Jiang Shiyu, she felt a wave of relief wash over her. However, the girl behind him left her momentarily stunned—it was the same girl from the photos.
Jiang Shiyu's voice was no longer as gentle as before; it had taken on a more serious tone. "What are you doing here?"
Yun Li's voice trembled as she replied, "I came to find you."
Realizing she had spoken, Jiang Shiyu didn't say anything further. He took her hand and led her away, but Shang Beibei quickly intervened from behind. "Jiang Shiyu, you promised to spend time with me today!"
Yun Li watched him, her heart tightening painfully.
