Jiang Shiyu wore a black coat, his deep-set eyes calm and unruffled, his well-maintained face betraying no emotion. He was tired of being indirect like before; he wanted Shi Yi to speak plainly about what she wanted. "I have time today to chat," he said, lazily pulling a chair over and sitting down with his long legs sprawled out, exuding an air of extreme relaxation as his dark gaze locked onto Shi Yi.
Shi Yi rested one hand on the desk, her fingertips tapping lightly as she spoke slowly, "It seems that only when blood is shed will you come looking for me." Her words made his deep black eyes chill slightly before the coldness quickly dissipated. He smiled faintly, pulling a pack of cigarettes from his bag. The sound of the lighter igniting echoed loudly in the empty office, striking against the eardrums. Smoke filled the air, obscuring the sharp contours of his face while enhancing his untamed, wild aura.
"That girl isn't suitable for you; she's not much to look at and timid as a mouse, hardly fit for the spotlight." Shi Yi's tone remained calm throughout, indifferent as if she were a robot. Jiang Shiyu casually rested one leg over the other, his ankle resting on his knee, elbow propped on the armrest as he leaned back comfortably, disregarding her words entirely. The sarcasm in his eyes grew more pronounced.
"You really love to meddle in other people's affairs. Aren't you tired of watching me with Jiang Hao every day? If you want someone to inherit your company, just find someone new," he said nonchalantly, embodying the essence of being uncouth.
Shi Yi remained unfazed, her expression unchanged. "A Yu, you'd better listen to me. Your grandfather won't go easy on you like I do; a little bump here and there won't compare to what he can do."
Her words caused Jiang Shiyu's relaxed demeanor to falter momentarily; the carefree glint in his eyes vanished instantly. He straightened up, a fierce aura radiating from him as he spoke sharply, "If anyone dares to touch her, none of you will have it easy."
Shi Yi finally showed some emotion, smiling knowingly as if mocking his insignificance. "Do you really think your grandfather can always protect you? You haven't visited in a long time; you don't know how your grandfather's health has deteriorated. He doesn't have the energy to look after you anymore."
"What have you done to my grandfather?" Jiang Shiyu snapped, extinguishing his cigarette and standing up with an intensified chill surrounding him.
Shi Yi smirked slightly. "What can I do? It's your grandfather's failing health; he doesn't have the strength to manage you anymore."
Jiang Shiyu turned around and, at the moment he opened the door, Shi Yi spoke up, "Think it over and make the call." Then she opened her computer and continued with the meeting.
Jiang Shiyu hurried over to the old western-style house, which was brightly lit. He drove into the yard and stopped. Upon entering the living room, the servant called out, "Young Master has arrived!"
Jiang Shiyu was in a rush to head upstairs when he ran into Jiang Hao, who was coming down. He paused for just a moment on the stairs but didn’t hesitate to go past him.
Jiang Hao, furious, turned around and yelled, "You little brat! Can't you see I'm here? Do you even acknowledge me as your father?"
Without looking back, Jiang Shiyu coldly replied, "I have no father." No matter how angry Jiang Hao became behind him, Jiang Shiyu headed straight for his grandfather's room.
Inside, there was a strong smell of medicine. Uncle Jiang Han and Aunt Zhu Ling were standing by the bedside, where Jiang Zesheng lay. His aged hand had an IV needle inserted, and his face was obscured. The doctor was examining him nearby.
When Jiang Han saw him, he called out, "A Yu has arrived?"
His grandfather's weary eyes immediately turned towards him. It wasn't until Jiang Shiyu got closer that he could see his grandfather's current state clearly.
