Yun searched with him for an hour before finally finding it. Then, she had the boss process the bracelet. Each bead cost fifteen dollars, which was clearly overpriced given its ordinary material, and the string added another twenty dollars. Although it was plain and unremarkable, it held extraordinary significance.
On the evening of the eighteenth, Yun and Jiang Shiyu returned home. Yun felt energetic because Jiang Shiyu hadn’t kept her up the night before, allowing her to have a good rest. As soon as she turned on the lights, Yun was taken aback. The house had been beautifully decorated. Colorful ribbons and flowers adorned the space, with rose petals scattered from the entrance all the way to the living room.
“What is this?”
Jiang Shiyu took her wrist and led her to the table, where a delicately crafted dreamlike cake stood with two candles on top, displaying a number that caught her eye. Shocked, she opened her mouth in surprise and looked at Jiang Shiyu. “How did you know today is my birthday?”
Jiang Shiyu tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. “It’s on your ID card.”
He had casually glanced at it when they were on a plane together, and he hadn’t missed it.
Yun felt tears welling in her eyes from excitement. “I never thought you would celebrate my birthday.”
“Why would you think that? Celebrating your birthday is normal, isn’t it?”
It is normal now, but back then they hadn’t been close at all. She once thought it would be impossible for them to ever connect in this lifetime. At this moment, the boy she had secretly cherished for so many years was right in front of her.
Her indescribable emotions erupted in excitement as she reached out and hugged Jiang Shiyu’s neck. “I’m so happy.”
After lighting the candles, as Yun made a wish, she felt a coolness around her neck. Once she finished her wish, she touched the necklace around her neck. Looking down, she saw it was a necklace shaped like a cloud, adorned with white and blue stones.
She was taken aback and looked up at him.
"It’s called Xiang Yun, symbolizing good luck and happiness. The moment I saw it, I felt it was perfect for you."
Jiang Shiyu's voice echoed in her ears. A smile crept onto Yun's lips as she turned and planted a kiss on him, wishing him good luck and happiness as well.
He leaned down, wrapping his arms around her waist, and gently kissed her. "You are my good luck and happiness."
Just as they were lost in the moment, the phone rang.
Yun's nerves instantly tensed up. She pushed Jiang Shiyu away and went to answer the call.
It was indeed her father.
She stepped out onto the balcony to take the call.
Jiang Shiyu poured himself a glass of water, leaning lazily against the table, casually holding the cup while watching her silhouette.
Her father had bought her a gift, saying it had arrived at the school security office and reminded her to pick it up.
Yun acknowledged this and hung up, letting out a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, a broad, warm chest pressed against her from behind, enveloping her completely, the strong scent of hormones filling her senses.
He lifted her up and carried her toward the bedroom.
Yun was still in shock but gradually began to forget under his enticing presence. She followed him into a blissful surrender, lost in pleasure.
The night didn’t drag on too long; Yun only needed to enjoy herself, unlike the previous time when things had gotten out of hand.
After showering, they cuddled together and watched a movie until Yun fell asleep. He quietly got up to tidy up the place, making sure everything was clean.
The cake was placed in the fridge for tomorrow.
With school about to start soon, Yun had gone ahead to prepare; her teacher had some matters to attend to on her behalf.
