A trace of tenderness flashed across Cheng Zhou's cold face.
However, Shu Ran beneath him shouted at the top of her lungs, "I don't want to be your friend with benefits anymore! I want to change partners!"
His dark eyes darkened, mixed with a hint of coldness, and the tenderness vanished. Tears welled up in Shu Ran's eyes.
She still hadn’t learned her lesson. His voice, filled with anger, was now hoarse.
Shu Ran quickly adapted; ever since they had made their arrangement, they had been indulging in this once every few days. Once this kind of thing happened, it became addictive, leaving one craving more.
Cheng Zhou's phone rang, but he didn’t answer. The first time it rang, Shu Ran urged him to pick up the call to end it. "What if it's the professor calling you? You should check!"
Hearing this, Cheng Zhou paused for a moment before flipping her over. One hand gripped her waist while the other grabbed the phone—it was Yun Li.
He held the phone screen in front of her. "Since you want to see her so badly, why not let her see us?"
As he spoke, he pressed the answer button. Shu Ran felt a mix of shame and anger; she regretted provoking him. He was simply a madman, a pervert—crossing him would lead to dire consequences.
"You're such a sick pervert," she muttered.
After the call ended, Cheng Zhou tossed the phone aside and leaned down to whisper in her ear with a low chuckle, his breath teasing her eardrum. "Don't forget, this is normal behavior for friends with benefits."
The next day, the two got up early and prepared to go out for breakfast.
Yun Li had her hair tied up in a bun and wore a mint green spaghetti strap dress that fell just above her knees. The entire dress shimmered subtly, and its fitted design accentuated her curves beautifully.
Jiang Shiyu was nestled on the sofa, engrossed in his phone when he noticed the bathroom door open and looked up.
A flicker of surprise crossed his indifferent Peach Blossom Eyes as his relaxed demeanor shifted to one of interest.
This was Yun Li’s first time wearing a dress in front of him; stepping out of the bathroom, she stood before the full-length mirror to check herself out.
Her slender legs swayed gently in his view, her butterfly bones were exquisite, shoulders delicately thin, and her arms had smooth lines with flawless skin. The bright sunlight streaming through the window illuminated her as if she were a celestial being descending from the heavens.
She turned around, her radiant and beautiful face shining like a bright star across the emptiness of Jiang Shiyu's dark heart, leaving an indelible mark behind.
It was already formed; it couldn’t be erased.
"Do I look good? I used to have marks on my legs from training, but now they've faded away so I dared to wear this dress," she said.
Jiang Shiyu's gaze lingered on her for a few seconds before he replied softly, "You look good."
The two of them went downstairs together for breakfast. The local cuisine was quite distinctive; for breakfast, it was either rice noodles or sticky rice. Yun Li usually just had a bottle of milk and a slice of whole wheat toast to get by.
This was the first time she had such greasy food for breakfast, and halfway through, she found herself unable to eat anymore. Jiang Shiyu, on the other hand, had an unusually good appetite. He finished a bowl of noodles and then devoured a sticky rice ball.
After their meal, they packed their bags and prepared to head to the next location. They were going to Libo County, famous for Xiao Qikong. It was said that the water there was clear and blue-green. Yun Li had searched for photos online, and they were stunning—so beautiful that they seemed unreal, as if the colors had been enhanced. It was dubbed the emerald of the Earth’s waist.
To verify if it was truly as magnificent as advertised, they decided to make it their first stop. During the drive, Yun Li occasionally brought up topics to alleviate the boredom of the journey; after all, driving could be dull, and having someone in the passenger seat helped keep things lively. She assisted with navigation, checked maps, played music, and answered phone calls.
Yun Li wore a lovely little dress that accentuated her bright and delicate demeanor even more. Jiang Shiyu wore sunglasses that concealed his expression but couldn’t hide the slight curve at the corners of his mouth.
Upon arriving at their destination, they checked into the hotel they had booked in advance. After placing their luggage down, Yun Li instinctively reached out to hold his hand but was deftly avoided by Jiang Shiyu.
“Let’s go! We should grab something to eat first,” he said. Without giving it much thought, Yun Li followed him out.
