Then, while looking at her phone and typing messages, she practiced her own skill combinations. The Little Girl watched Yun's graceful and effortless movements with envy and admiration in her eyes.
"How amazing! I wish I could be that good too," she thought.
She stood up to practice the techniques she had learned, but her attempts at the flip were a complete mess, and her head toss was even more painful to watch. Her raised arms resembled the arc of a dart's blade. Feeling a bit discouraged, she bit her lip but continued to practice.
Yun's skill combinations seemed to go on forever, until the Little Girl heard Yun's guiding voice beside her: "Plant your feet, strike with your hands, and your head toss isn't strong enough. First, pick up your head toss and practice it separately."
Two hours later, Mrs. Qian had finished playing mahjong. She peeked through the small square glass at the door and saw that her daughter was currently focused and diligently practicing, gritting her teeth in determination. A smile of satisfaction spread across Mrs. Qian's face.
After two and a half hours, Yun concluded the lesson. "We finished early today; the first day of class went really well. Consider this a reward."
"Just like my dad used to say—give a slap and then a sweet date," she thought.
The Little Girl jumped up happily upon hearing this. She grabbed Yun's arm and shook it. "Teacher Yun, you're so amazing! I want to be as good as you in the future!"
Yun smiled and pinched her cheek. "That will require a lot of hard work."
"I'm not afraid!" she declared proudly, hands on her hips.
When she stepped outside, Mrs. Qian was already waiting at the door. "Teacher Yun, thank you for your hard work. I'll pay you half for the extra time."
"No need," Mrs. Qian insisted as they pushed back and forth while escorting Yun out. "It's my fault for running over time; just stick to what we agreed upon."
The two continued to insist until they finally sent Yun off, with Mrs. Qian still holding firm: "Teacher Yun, don't be polite! The way you've helped Little Girl adjust her attitude is priceless."
Yun smiled helplessly and accepted it.
Jiang Shiyu had arrived early; he leaned lazily against the car door, watching as Yun came out.
When Yun spotted him, she jogged over. "Were you getting anxious waiting?"
Jiang Shiyu wrapped his arm around her waist. "Are you tired?"
Yun shook her head. "It's much easier than my classes."
The car was cruising down the road as Jiang Shiyu listened to Teacher Yun talk. A smile curled at the corners of his mouth. So, this was Teacher Yun's strategy to tame her?
What taming? This was about sparking her interest. At this age, if you could ignite their curiosity and encourage them to explore professional topics, they would be drawn in. Moreover, paying too much attention to their emotions or behaviors would only make them act out more; it was better to remain indifferent so that they wouldn't find the situation so interesting.
He had shared a few dance dramas with Mrs. Qian for the little girl to watch during her free time.
Soon, they arrived at the restaurant for dinner, and the car came to a stop. Yun was still chatting with Mrs. Qian. Jiang Shiyu turned to look at the girl, who had been focused on that little brat all day long.
He unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned closer, a refreshing minty scent wafting over him. Yun glanced at him, asking, "What's wrong?"
He unbuckled her seatbelt too and gave her cheek a gentle kiss. "Are you done?"
Yun sent off her last message and turned off her phone. "All set."
The two of them went to the Sichuan Restaurant they had visited before. They ordered several dishes they both liked, and as Jiang Shiyu looked at the picture of Spicy Chicken, he recalled Shu Ran's words from before.
"Why did you start eating spicy food when you couldn't handle it before?"
Yun didn't want to share her previous crush with him; even though they were together now, it felt embarrassing to say it in front of him.
"I heard from a classmate that there was a place known for its spicy hot pot that was really delicious. The flavor comes from the fragrant chili peppers, so I decided to give it a try."
Yun spoke calmly, but Jiang Shiyu smiled and said, "I see! I thought Hao Hao liked it because of me."
Yun's mind tightened at his words, forcing a smile. "How could that be? I didn't even know you back then."
"That's true," he replied.
