She understood why, despite having so many girlfriends, none had ever gotten close to him or shared any intimate moments. He was mirroring the same actions as his father, making her feel disgusted, as if she were looking into a mirror. The sins he committed were being continued by his son.
This behavior indeed angered Jiang Hao, but there was nothing he could do about it. Yun felt a wave of heartache for him, for the way he had suppressed his feelings, for the unhappy childhood he endured without love from his parents. She couldn't bear to think about how he managed to overcome all of that alone.
Since she met him, there had always been so many people around him, fearing loneliness and wanting companionship. That was why he sought someone to share meals with; it was his way of healing himself.
Yun Xin felt an overwhelming pain, tears streaming down her face like droplets of water, soaking Jiang Shiyu's neck. Jiang Shiyu held her chin and turned her to face him, offering her a tissue to wipe her tears away.
"Are you made of water? Why are you crying so much?"
Yun shook her head, her lips trembling slightly. "I... I feel for you. You shouldn't be treated this way. You deserve to be loved, to be loved by everyone."
Her words came out in fragments, each one striking at his heart. It was a bittersweet sensation that left him feeling vulnerable. His voice was hoarse and low as he replied, "As long as there is love for me, that's enough."
His eyes were as dark as ink, deepening in the dim light as if they were about to swallow her whole. Yun Zheng met his intense gaze willingly, ready to sink into it.
In the bedroom, on the large bed, the two were entangled passionately, their lips meeting in fervent kisses. Clothes were disheveled as they leaned down to kiss the soft flesh on her shoulder. Yun's eyelashes were wet; she blinked and felt a chill run through her.
"Is it coming?"
Yun's face flushed with embarrassment when suddenly the person on top of her halted all movement, their hands resting at her waist without advancing further.
Yun: ???
Is that it???
Jiang Shiyu gasped a few times, slowly pressing down, wrapping his arms around her and gently stroking her back.
"Where's my gift?"
"Oh right! I haven't given you your gift yet."
"I'll get it from outside."
Yun jumped off the bed and grabbed the canvas bag, pulling out a pen case from inside.
When she returned to the bedroom, the bed was empty, and the sound of water could be heard from the bathroom.
"Taking a shower."
As soon as Jiang Shiyu came out, Yun stood at the door with her hands behind her back, blocking his way.
"Ding ding ding! Happy birthday!"
Yun held the black pen case in her hands like a treasure, its surface adorned with golden letters displaying a brand name.
Jiang Shiyu raised an eyebrow. "A fountain pen?"
Yun nodded enthusiastically. "I had it custom-made, and it even has our initials on it."
Jiang Shiyu took it, opened the case, and saw the black and gold fountain pen lying inside. He held it up, but couldn't find the initials anywhere.
Yun smiled and pointed to the inside of the cap.
Under the light, two small letters appeared along the edge of the cap.
"I want you to use this pen for your studies and work in the future. It would make me really happy if you write about aerospace with it; it feels like I'm part of it too," she said, her pride evident.
Yun pretended to pat her chest dramatically, as if making a grand statement.
Jiang Shiyu tucked the fountain pen into his pajama pocket and replied hoarsely, "I really like it."
That night, they embraced and fell asleep together, unaware of any hidden matters concerning Yun Qiao Qiao.
