After finishing her morning classes, Yun Li walked back to the dormitory without any appetite. She felt exhausted and just wanted to sleep. Dressed in a Blue Gauze Robe with a blue jacket over it, her hair neatly tied up in a bun, her face appeared somewhat pale, and her brows were slightly furrowed. She held a thick volume of Chinese Dance History and an assignment in her arms.
Lost in thought, she suddenly felt someone grip her elbow and gently pull her back. Startled, Yun Li turned her wide eyes to see Jiang Shiyu stepping closer.
"What are you thinking? You didn't even notice me standing right in front of you," he said. He had spotted her from a distance and stood directly opposite her, but she had walked right past him without noticing.
With a light click of his tongue, he grabbed her arm. Yun Li stared at him with wide eyes, then smirked and shook off his hand, turning away in silence to continue walking.
Jiang Shiyu took two long strides forward to block her path. His gaze fell deeply upon her as she tried to move left; he mirrored her movement, staying right beside her.
Frustrated, Yun Li glared up at him and raised the book in her hand to hit him. Jiang Shiyu leaned back slightly but didn’t dodge; he took the light blows without complaint. She didn’t want to hit him hard, so she gave him two or three gentle taps before he pulled her into his embrace.
As her nose brushed against his firm chest, an unexpected wave of emotion washed over her, and tears began to well up uncontrollably. The book slipped from her grasp, and the assignment was flipped open to several pages filled with neat and beautiful handwriting.
She stifled soft sobs, not daring to cry out loud. In frustration, she pushed him away and crouched down to pick up the scattered books. After gathering them together, she stood up and prepared to leave when Jiang Shiyu grasped her wrist and led her outside.
His strides were long and quick, forcing Yun Li to jog a little just to keep up. Many people on the way glanced at them, making Yun Li hesitant to act out; she didn’t want to become the subject of gossip in public.
Since outside vehicles couldn’t enter the campus, once they reached the parking lot outside, Jiang Shiyu opened the car door and nodded for her to get in.
Yun Li, sulking and refusing to look at him, turned sideways and got into the car, clutching her book tightly.
Jiang Shiyu couldn't help but chuckle softly at her demeanor. He took the driver's seat and drove off.
Yun Li gazed out at the scenery, not uttering a word the entire way. By the time they arrived at Fragrant Courtyard No. 1, she was nearly asleep. Forcing her eyes open, she rubbed them just as Jiang Shiyu parked the car, got out, and opened the door for her.
As they entered the elevator, the confined space held only the two of them. Yun Li curled up in a corner with her book, her long eyelashes casting delicate shadows as they fluttered down.
Once they reached the door, Yun Li seemed to anticipate that he would pick her up, so she swiftly turned and shoved her book into his arms before slipping away.
Jiang Shiyu caught it and placed the book on the table before pulling her wrist toward him. As she fell into his embrace, he captured her chin with his hand, their lips brushing against each other.
Yun Li felt overwhelmed by his fervor and instinctively began to retreat, but he pressed closer until there was nowhere left to back away—her back pressed against the wall. His tongue slipped past her lips, dancing within as a sweet taste spread between them, deepening their kiss.
Yun Li's face flushed crimson, her ears turning a charming shade of red. After what felt like an eternity of kissing—five minutes—they finally pulled apart, both gasping for breath. Jiang Shiyu rested his forehead against hers and asked in a husky voice, "Can you hear me now?"
Having already surrendered, Yun Li closed her eyes and nodded.
Jiang Shiyu's intense gaze lingered on her glistening lips for a moment before he leaned down to kiss her again. Yun Li gently turned away from him.
His lips found their way to her earlobe, breathing warm air that sent shivers down her spine. After a few seconds, he lifted his gaze to meet hers, his hands resting on her thighs as he pulled her closer against him.
Yun Li instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck as he guided her to sit on the sofa, positioning herself comfortably on his lap.
Jiang Shiyu looked up at her with a serious expression. "I haven't told you about my parents before."
Yun Li blinked in surprise and nodded slowly.
His eyes darkened with gravity as if he had made a significant decision. "My parents' marriage was arranged; they weren't happy after getting married. After I was born, my father stopped caring for us."
