Yun Li accompanied Jiang Shiyu in the library for a while, but it wasn't long before she dozed off at the table. Jiang Shiyu was focused on her reading, and by the time she noticed Yun Li, she had already been asleep for quite some time.
Jiang Shiyu closed her book and tilted her head to look at her. The girl had her face resting on a book, a foreign literary work. Strands of hair fell onto her cheek, and Jiang Shiyu gently tucked them behind her ear, noticing that Yun Li's hand was warm. However, it was still uncomfortable to sleep there.
"Hao Hao, wake up," she called softly.
Yun Li blinked awake, her lips moving as she spoke in a soft, clear voice, "What’s wrong?"
Jiang Shiyu caressed her cheek and asked, "Have you been too tired lately?"
Yun Li sat up straight and nodded, "I've been really busy with too many things recently."
The two of them returned their books and left the library. After having dinner at Jinghang Canteen, Jiang Shiyu walked Yun Li back to school, reminding her to get some rest early.
Once back in her dormitory, Yun Li found herself wide awake. After spending two hours in Wu Fang, she returned to her room. By the time she finished showering, it was already past nine o'clock.
The next day started early as usual with morning exercises. Although there weren't many classes that day, she needed to review and rehearse for the upcoming competition. The piece she was performing had been personally selected by her teacher; it was quite challenging and required a rich emotional expression. She spent a significant amount of time rehearsing every day.
Moreover, top dancers were coming to campus, and the venue was set at Jinghua Hangda.
On April 18th, the day of the competition, Jiang Shiyu and a few others entered with tickets to watch together. At the entrance, they spotted Yun Li's promotional photo. The girl was dressed in black attire with her hair styled in a bun, smiling brightly. Her name, Yun Li, was written below.
Jiang Shiyu took out her phone to snap a picture and sent it to Yun Li with the message: "I see you."
Just after finishing an interview backstage, Yun Li pulled out her phone to take a quick look and smiled slightly at the message. "Am I pretty?"
"Very pretty," came Jiang Shiyu's reply.
Yun Li couldn't help but smile as she set her phone down and began preparing for her performance.
Peng Qingyu and Yu Meng were up first as part of Group Dance. Yun Li's performance was later in the lineup. During makeup, the makeup artist applied stage makeup; eye makeup was particularly important for performances. Although heavily done, it couldn't hide the sparkle in Yun Li's eyes.
Yun Li took photos and chatted happily with the dancers she knew. It wasn't until Yun Li took the stage that Jiang Shiyu perked up. Below the stage, several cameras were being adjusted, and the dancers moved gracefully, as if they were swimming in water. The emotions they conveyed were rich and full, allowing everyone in the audience to truly feel the story being told.
Jiang Shiyu snapped countless pictures, her fingers never stopping as she clicked the shutter. She resembled a star's devoted fan, capturing every subtle movement and expression without missing a beat.
Xu Jiaxing, watching from the side, teased her, "Come on, you don't have to go that far!"
Jiang Shiyu didn't even glance at him, focused entirely on her photography. Her voice carried a hint of arrogance as she replied, "You wouldn't understand."
Xu Jiaxing shot back, "I don't understand you lovebirds."
After the performance, Yun Li lifted her long arms and took a couple of graceful steps forward to take her bow before exiting the stage. Thunderous applause erupted from the audience.
Qin Nianchu performed a Dai dance. She was tall and slender, and when she donned her ethnic costume, she looked elegant and regal. Qin Nianzhe, ever the life of the party, shouted loudly like a monkey as soon as she appeared on stage, waving a banner that read, "Qin Nianchu is Unbeatable!" The bold letters on the banner were bright and eye-catching, and as soon as Qin Nianchu turned around, she spotted it.
With a radiant smile on her face, she remained unfazed despite feeling a surge of inner turmoil that made her want to claw at something in frustration. Many in the audience turned their heads at the commotion and couldn't help but stifle their laughter.
After the performance concluded, all the dancers gathered for a group photo. Several prominent figures from the dance community also joined them on stage. The colorful costumes from various ethnic groups created a vibrant display, heightening the atmosphere to a climax filled with excitement.
Once everything wrapped up, Jiang Shiyu made her way backstage to find Yun Li. The others sensed their moment and discreetly stepped away.
Qin Nianchu caught hold of Qin Nianzhe's ear and began to scold him playfully. "Ouch! That hurts! You little brat always trying to one-up me—stop it!"
Yun Li smiled softly as she watched Jiang Shiyu approach. "Didn’t you say you would wait for me to change before coming to find me?"
