A row of pajamas lined the shelf, and Yun Li picked out a beige set of Boiled Velvet. She held it up against herself, and it fit perfectly.
After taking a shower in the bathroom, Yun Li emerged wearing the pajamas, her cheeks flushed from the steam. Jiang Shiyu entered just as she finished, holding a hairdryer. He plugged it in and bent down to speak to her.
Yun Li walked over with her damp hair cascading down her shoulders, having dried it enough with a towel that no droplets were left. She sat on the edge of the bed while Jiang Shiyu turned on the hairdryer and began drying her hair.
The warmth in her face intensified, and by the time he finished, her cheeks resembled two ripe cherries. When Jiang Shiyu's cool fingertips brushed against her skin, Yun Li felt a pleasant sensation and smiled.
"Your hands are so cold," she remarked.
Jiang Shiyu scrutinized the redness on her face. "What temperature did you set the water? It’s so red!"
"I don’t know; I prefer my showers a bit hot. It feels nice," she replied.
After putting away the hairdryer, Yun Li recalled the clothes in the wardrobe. "Why do you have so many girls' clothes at your place?"
"They're for you," he said.
"For me?"
Jiang Shiyu placed the hairdryer in a cabinet below and bent down to meet her gaze. "Otherwise, would you come here without any clothes on?"
Yun Li pushed him away playfully. "What are you talking about? I can bring my own clothes."
As Jiang Shiyu cooked, Yun Li took the opportunity to wash her intimate garments. After finishing, she felt like a thief, constantly wary of whether Jiang Shiyu would notice.
While Jiang Shiyu was still busy in the kitchen, the doorbell rang—someone had come to deliver flowers.
The Happiness Tree was placed in a corner of the terrace, along with hanging ferns and Green Radish plants. The cacti and succulents enjoyed better treatment, residing indoors on a hanging shelf.
Jiang Shiyu stood behind her with a teasing laziness in his voice. "Hao Hao has good taste."
"The food Jiang Xue made is pretty good too," Yun Li replied with a playful wink.
After dinner, Yun Li took out a dance appreciation book from her backpack and flipped through its pages before pulling out her phone to look for dance performances to watch.
Jiang Shiyu leaned closer, resting his arm on his knee as he bent down to see the screen. The stage was dimly lit around a group of dancers performing.
"What are you watching?" he asked.
"Homework. I need to write an article on this group dance for my dance appreciation class."
"Is it difficult?"
"Not at all."
As Jiang Shiyu accompanied Yun Li to watch, halfway through, Yun Li paused and began to write with a pen, her elegant handwriting flowing across the page. What could one discern from such a small amount?
"How should this appreciation be written?"
Yun Li adjusted her grip on the pen and organized her thoughts. "Appreciation should start with observation. You need to look at the stage lighting, costumes, music, movements, and rhythm—all of these are important."
"The stage is crucial, and so is the lighting. Different lighting creates different effects on the dancers."
"Look," she continued, "the emotional atmosphere conveyed by different colors of light varies as well. For instance, cold tones like green and blue can evoke a sense of heaviness and suppressed sadness during melancholic moments. In contrast, pink and purple lights create a sweet and joyful ambiance."
Yun Li showed Jiang Shiyu the pictures of stage lighting she had saved from class.
Jiang Shiyu, who had been puzzled by her explanations, suddenly felt enlightened. "There’s so much to consider?"
Yun Li nodded. "Of course! Every profession may seem straightforward on the surface, but how much only those who study it truly understand."
She looked up thoughtfully. "Take your Aerospace major for example; it seems like all you need to do is build an aircraft or a satellite. But who knows that you first need a solid foundation in multiple disciplines? If I were to study that, I’d probably lose all my hair!"
Yun Li cradled her head in her hands, imagining the overwhelming knowledge she would have to cram into her brain.
After graduating from elementary school, she had gone straight to a dance-affiliated high school, where her academic skills were rather weak, especially in the sciences.
Jiang Shiyu chuckled and patted her head reassuringly. "It’s alright; having one academic overachiever in our family is enough."
Yun Li grinned widely at this. "My dad often says that too—having my mom as the knowledgeable one is sufficient."
"We really are fortunate in the Yun Family to have someone educated to help us out," she said with a squint in her eyes, pressing her palms together in a gesture of gratitude, her tone filled with immense relief.
