While cooking the Tofu Soup, Yun Li had already eaten half of the fish. The crucian carp had many bones, so she always ate very carefully.
Jiang Shiyu covered the pot and turned around, only to find her. His tone was lazy yet teasing, "Where did this little cat come from, stealing food?"
Yun Li was facing away from him as she ate. Hearing his words, she swallowed without checking the fish carefully, and a small fishbone got stuck in her throat.
Her expression changed suddenly as she exclaimed, "Choking!"
Jiang Shiyu's relaxed demeanor shifted instantly. He leaned over, grasped her shoulder, and opened his mouth to help.
Yun Li coughed vigorously, managing to expel the fishbone. With her agile tongue, she rolled it out and caught it with her hand. Looking at the bone in her palm, she felt relieved that it wasn't too big.
She raised her almond-shaped eyes to show him triumphantly, "I coughed it out!" She recalled how she often got choked by fishbones when she was younger and had to force them out this way.
Jiang Shiyu's tense expression gradually relaxed as he pushed the crucian carp further away. "Next time, let's eat fish with fewer bones."
At the dining table, they continued their meal. Yun Li stared at the rice in his bowl while she could only eat cabbage and sip soup. Occasionally, she nibbled on some beef to mask her craving for carbohydrates.
However, Jiang Shiyu truly knew how to cook; even plain cabbage Tofu Soup tasted so fresh with a hint of sweetness after his preparation. Drinking it made her feel warm inside.
Seeing her eyeing his food hungrily, Jiang Shiyu chuckled, "Are you sure you don't want some rice? Not eating will make you hungry."
Yun Li shook her head, exercising restraint. "I usually don't eat staples at night; it's easy to gain weight. I’ll have a little at lunch."
Just then, her phone chimed, lighting up the screen with a notification from the class group about a meeting scheduled for seven o'clock that evening. It was already six o'clock now.
Yun Li set down her bowl. "I need to head back to school."
"Don't you have no classes tomorrow morning?"
Yun Li replied, "The counselor notified us about the meeting tonight; they might also check the dorms later."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Shiyu immediately set down his utensils and stood up to grab his coat from the armrest of the sofa.
I give this to you.
Arriving at the underground parking lot, I got into a Cullinan. The car looked quite new; I hadn’t seen Jiang Shiyu drive it before.
The vehicle smoothly rolled out of the garage and onto the road. After more than half an hour, we reached the school. Yun Li unbuckled her seatbelt and said softly, "I'm going in, bye."
Jiang Shiyu nodded, reaching out to pinch her cheek. "I’ll come pick you up tomorrow morning."
Yun Li nodded in response.
Sitting in the classroom during the meeting, Yun Li's mind had already drifted elsewhere. She slipped her hands into her bag and suddenly felt a card. Confused, she pulled it out to find Jiang Shiyu's gold card. Her pupils constricted, and feeling guilty as if she had stolen something, she quickly shoved the card back into her bag. When did this card end up in there?
After the meeting, instead of rushing back to her dorm, Yun Li called Jiang Shiyu. The campus was dimly lit around her.
"How did your card end up in my bag?"
"I gave it to you." Jiang Shiyu's voice came through the line, low and husky.
"I don’t want it; you can take it back tomorrow."
"Then can you keep it for me? Is that okay?"
Yun Li couldn't help but smile as her lips curled up, her eyes lowering shyly. "Why do you want me to keep it?"
A soft laugh came from the other end, making her ears flush involuntarily.
"What do you think? Girlfriend."
Her heart suddenly raced faster, each beat sending a thrill through her.
The next morning at eight o'clock, Yun Li woke up and changed into her dance outfit, preparing for Wu Fang's early class. Just as she stepped out of her apartment, she ran into Jiang Shiyu waiting for her outside.
At this moment, everyone began to converge on Wu Fang, encountering him directly.
They looked at him with surprise, admiration, and curiosity, but he seemed completely indifferent to their gazes.
Qin Nianchu and Chen Jin Xiu also couldn’t understand why their attitude toward Jiang Shiyu had suddenly changed. Just last night, they had spoken quite a bit about him.
