A few people gathered in Zheng Yuan, showcasing how much pocket money they received this year. Cheng Zhou entered with a group of friends.
A familiar female voice called out, "Li Li Baby!" Yun Li turned to look and was immediately enveloped in a warm embrace. Qin Nianchu nuzzled against her, missing her dearly.
Shu Ran approached and sized up Qin Nianchu. "Hey! You must be Qin Nianchu?"
Hearing the voice, Qin Nianchu, still holding onto Yun Li, turned to look. "Yes! Do you know me?"
Shu Ran tilted her chin slightly and pulled Yun Li closer. "I've heard about you from her. I'm her best friend, Shu Ran."
Qin Nianchu quickly sensed that Shu Ran wasn't particularly fond of her. "Oh, I haven't heard of you. It seems you don't hold a significant place in Li Li's heart either."
At this remark, Shu Ran's expression darkened, her pride evident as she raised her chin defiantly. "Who doesn’t have a place? I've known her since elementary school; back then, you probably didn’t even know where she was!"
Qin Nianchu remained calm and unbothered. "Oh, so what? It's not too late for me to know Li Li now; it doesn't stop us from being sisters."
The two exchanged sharp words while Yun Li stood by trying to mediate. Shu Ran's anger flared as she sulked on the side of the Rose Swing.
Yun Li went over to comfort her. "Ran Ran, don’t be upset; you both are my friends."
Shu Ran immediately clung to Yun Li's arm. "Then who’s your number one?"
Both were her friends, but it was clear that Yun Li had a deeper bond with Shu Ran than with Qin Nianchu.
Yun Li sighed helplessly. "Of course it's you."
At this, Shu Ran couldn't help but smile widely. She shot a cold glance at Qin Nianchu and said, "Did you hear that? I'm the favored one."
Qin Nianchu let out a soft snort, dismissing the matter as childish. Cheng Zhou glanced at the boy beside him, dressed in a black trench coat, his sharp features and cold, piercing phoenix eyes suggesting he was not someone to be trifled with.
"Who is he?" Cheng Zhou asked.
Jiang Shiyu leaned casually against the dining table, hands stuffed in his pockets, exuding a lazy demeanor. His voice was nonchalant as he replied, "My brother, Chi Zhi Yu. You know the Cheng Family has a business partner? That's his family."
Cheng Zhou understood; he had heard his parents mention it before. The Chi Family had two sons—the elder one attended the police academy, while the younger one was still in elementary school. They had originally been based in Yu but gradually moved their headquarters to Jiangzhou.
Cheng Zhou poured a glass of wine and handed it to him. "Care for a drink?"
Chi Zhi Yu's aura was both gloomy and righteous, a contradiction that piqued Cheng Zhou's interest. He accepted the glass, his voice low and cold, "Sure."
Shu Ran, Yun Li, and Qin Nianchu sat on a large swing that could easily accommodate all three of them. Qin Nianchu pointed at Chi Zhi Yu beside Cheng Zhou and said to Yun Li, "Li Li, that's the guy I like."
Shu Ran also looked over curiously. At first glance, she found him strikingly handsome, but upon a second look, her brow furrowed. His demeanor was even colder than Cheng Zhou's, radiating an unsettling aura of gloom and sharpness.
Boring.
Even more boring than Cheng Zhou.
To Yun Li, he felt dangerously intimidating. Cheng Zhou was steady and reserved, while Jiang Shiyu was proud and rebellious with an air of debauchery. But Chi Zhi Yu gave off an oppressive vibe that felt suffocating—tinged with blood and the despair of a cornered beast.
Among them all, only he exuded a sense of lethal pressure.
Nianchu thought he looked quite good, but Yun Li hesitated to speak further; she feared Nianchu might not be able to handle him.
Qin Nianchu understood her thoughts; he wasn't like this before.
Shu Ran leaned in to look at her, "What do you mean?"
Qin Nianchu glanced at Chi Zhi Yu, whose eyes were filled with concern. He used to be a bright, proud, and confident young man.
