After a few people went out for lunch, they strolled around West Lake. Yun Li and Shu Ran took quite a few photos, while Cheng Zhou and Jiang Shiyu seemed to be just tagging along, glancing around without taking any pictures, their expressions unchanged.
After exploring West Lake, they headed to Leifeng Pagoda and Three Ponds Mirroring the Moon, enjoying a pleasant atmosphere along the way. When they grew tired from all the walking, they took a break before continuing their fun.
During these three days, Jiang Shiyu had taken to sleeping on the sofa, which troubled Shu Ran; it was nothing like she had imagined! After returning to Jiangzhou, everyone prepared for the festivities at home.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year, Yun Li went with her parents to visit her maternal grandmother's house, located in a county within Jiangzhou. The drive took three hours, and afterward, Yun Li and her younger siblings settled on the sofa to watch television. Her uncle's son, Deng Chuan, was in high school and was busy playing games on his phone.
Seeing this, her aunt couldn't help but call out to him, "Xiao Chuan, stop playing games all the time and get your winter break homework done!" Deng Chuan was in the middle of an intense battle in his game and frowned in dissatisfaction. "Mom, who does homework during break?"
His younger sister, Deng Ying, who was in third grade and had already started wearing glasses, liked to sit close to Yun Li because her sister was gentle and smelled nice—unlike their brother, who had a bad temper and an unpleasant smell.
"Ever since my brother's winter break started, he hasn’t done any homework," she whispered to Yun Li. "He said he’ll copy from his classmates two days before school starts."
Deng Chuan shot a quick glance at them. "You little brat! If you keep talking nonsense, I’ll tell Mom and Dad that you read comics during class."
Deng Ying huffed and snuggled closer to Yun Li. "Sister is better."
Yun Li smiled and asked her, "Xiao Ying, when do you start school?"
Deng Ying shook her head. "I don’t know; we haven’t been notified yet."
"Sister, let’s play Go!"
"Okay."
Deng Ying had only recently started learning Go, so she played slowly.
They all learned Go from outsiders, who are experts in this area. Growing up, everyone was influenced by it and picked up a bit here and there. Half an hour later, they had just started while the meal was already ready.
Deng Ying looked at the game board, frowning and hesitant to make a move. Aunt came over and called out, "It's time to eat! We can continue later!"
Yun Li put down the piece in her hand and said to Deng Ying, "Let’s finish our meal first."
Deng Ying nodded and set her piece down. The game on the board remained unchanged as they all went to eat. Yun Li took a photo and sent it to Jiang Shiyu with the caption: [Grandma's cooking.]
Meanwhile, in a villa area of Jiangzhou City, the dining room was large, with several servants standing nearby. Only a few people sat at the long table.
Old Master Shi sat at the head of the table, his expression serious. Mrs. Shi wore a qipao, her hair neatly styled behind her ears. Opposite her was Shi Yi, still sporting short hair and dressed in a black turtleneck, her demeanor calm and indifferent. Next to Shi Yi sat Jiang Shiyu, lounging casually with drooping eyelids and hands in his pockets, looking lazy.
Old Master Shi frowned at Jiang Shiyu, his voice deep and commanding: "A Yu, you’re grown up now but still don’t know how to sit properly."
Jiang Shiyu smirked slightly, replying lazily, "Well, that's just who I am; I can't meet your expectations."
Old Master Shi turned his stern gaze to Shi Yi, saying, "Look at what you've taught! You dare to contradict your elders."
Shi Yi lowered her head obediently, not daring to say anything and only allowing him to scold her.
Mrs. Shi looked somewhat moved but said nothing. Instead, she turned to Jiang Shiyu: "A Yu, after Grandma takes you to England, you need to focus on your studies there. Don’t cause any more trouble for your grandma."
Jiang Shiyu scoffed lightly and lazily glanced over at her. "Grandma, there's no need for all this fuss. I'm doing just fine as I am."
