Jiang Shiyu was playing a game, looking quite frustrated. Cheng Zhou glanced at him and remarked, "Attacking without holding back makes it easy to lose."
Jiang Shiyu replied nonchalantly, "What do you care?"
The screen displayed the word "Victory," and Jiang Shiyu added, "Let's go again."
Cheng Zhou took a sip of water, his tone calm. "Have you run out of ammo?"
"Less talk."
In the room, Yun Li sat on the carpet, hugging a pillow with a gloomy expression. He said he would take me ice skating, but I was afraid of running into his ex at the rink. I dreaded being scrutinized by those eyes.
Shu Ran leaned over, teasingly saying, "Why are you more scared than him when his ex shows up?"
Shu Ran suggested, "Why don't you guys go to Jing City? There shouldn't be as many people there!"
Yun Li lazily lifted her eyelids. "You think there aren't any in Jing City? He has a tradition of keeping in touch with his high school friends from university. There's one girl from our dorm, a ballet dancer—she's also his ex." As she spoke, Yun Li's tone grew more intense.
It seemed like there were battlegrounds waiting for her everywhere.
Shu Ran burst into laughter again, rolling on the carpet. Yun Li looked at her with a sigh. "Ran Ran, that's too much. I'm here to vent, not to be laughed at."
Shu Ran sat up but couldn't stop laughing. "I just need to relieve some stress! Haha! I have to tell others so they can laugh too."
Yun Li's face flushed red as she frowned. "Ran Ran, if you keep this up, I'm leaving."
Shu Ran put down her phone and coaxed her, "I won't say anything. They’ll find out sooner or later anyway."
Yun Li irritably buried her head in the pillow.
Jiang Zhou was really small-minded. If only he were a bit bigger.
Suddenly, Yun Li had an idea and said to Shu Ran, "Ran Ran, let's go travel! We still have a week off; we can play for two days."
Shu Ran pouted playfully and laughed knowingly. "You want to go somewhere else so you won't run into his ex, right?"
Yun Li smiled and replied, "You understand me."
In the living room, after losing another match, Jiang Shiyu frowned and tossed his phone onto the sofa, staring up at the ceiling. He pressed his fingers against his temples in fatigue.
Cheng Zhou exited the game page and stood up to pour water for him. He kicked him lightly and asked, "Want some water?"
Jiang Shiyu looked at him and inquired, "Do you have any alcohol?"
Cheng Zhou chuckled, "Still want alcohol? Aren't you driving later?"
Jiang Shiyu could only sit up straight, taking the water from him and gulping down a large mouthful. The way he drank made it seem like he was downing liquor.
Seeing the frustration on his face, Cheng Zhou raised an eyebrow and asked, "Did you have a fight?" If there had been a fight, she would have said something. But not only did they not argue, she didn't even furrow her brows. He didn't know how to comfort her; after all, both of their dates had been interrupted by exes. If it were him, he would have been visibly upset.
Yun Li showed no emotion at all, catching him off guard. "No," Jiang Shiyu could only respond.
Shu Ran had no family at home; an aunt took care of things, and she had cooked lunch. Yun Li had just come out of the room with Shu Ran.
Yun Li's mood had improved significantly. She took off her coat to reveal a loose sweater underneath, her slender shoulders and long neck accentuated by her hair tied back with a rubber band.
Jiang Shiyu stood up and walked over to greet the girl coming down the stairs.
