On January 20th, Yun Li had an afternoon flight. As she stepped out of the apartment building, Jiang Shiyu was already waiting outside.
At that moment, there were many people passing by, and all eyes were on Jiang Shiyu. Yun Li recalled how, over the past few days, people had been asking her if she was really dating Jiang Shiyu.
When Jiang Shiyu saw her, he quickly walked over to help her with her luggage, which consisted of two large suitcases. He lifted them slightly and asked, "Are you sure you can manage these when you get off the plane?"
"Of course! I used to carry both suitcases home by myself. I'm quite strong," Yun Li replied, raising her arm to show off her muscles, though her winter coat concealed them.
Jiang Shiyu chuckled, "Is my family really that impressive?"
Yun Li lifted her chin proudly.
In the car, their hands remained intertwined. Although they didn't speak, a subtle sadness lingered between them. Yun Li lowered her eyelids; it was hard to meet like this only to part again so soon.
Noticing her gloomy mood, Jiang Shiyu reached into his bag and pulled out some candy, offering it to her. "Here, have some candy."
It was a lychee-flavored lollipop. Yun Li took it, unwrapped it, and popped it into her mouth. The rich lychee flavor reminded her of the bottle of lychee-flavored wine he had given her before.
Jiang Shiyu reached out to tuck a stray hair behind her ear. "In just a couple of days, we'll see each other again."
Yun Li suddenly brightened at the thought and said, "When you come back, I'll take you to that special place for wontons."
Seeing how quickly she had cheered up, Jiang Shiyu smiled.
When they arrived at the airport and checked in their luggage and went through security, Yun Li hugged Jiang Shiyu goodbye. As she walked away, she turned back three times, waving her hand side to side.
Jiang Shiyu smiled encouragingly at her to hurry inside.
Upon reaching Jiangzhou, Yun Zheng and Deng Ting were there to pick her up and take her home. In the car, Yun Li looked down at her phone while Deng Ting glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
The girl smiled, her eyes sparkling as she stared at her phone for a long time. What could be so amusing?
Yun Li instinctively looked up in a panic, then tried to calm herself. "Just checking Weibo, it's quite interesting."
Deng Ting caught that fleeting moment of anxiety. She didn't press further but advised, "Just don't look for too long, or you'll get car sick."
"Got it, Mom."
Yun Zheng was driving them to a restaurant; the three of them were going out to eat today.
Yun Li scrolled through her chat history with Jiang Shiyu, feeling increasingly embarrassed. Through the words, she could almost picture his expression and hear his teasing tone. He must be joking around, his voice playful and light.
Later that evening, after taking a shower, Yun Li sat on the small sofa in her room with a blanket draped over her legs. She thought about messaging Jiang Shiyu but hesitated, worried it might disrupt his studying.
Suddenly, Shu Ran's video call came through.
Yun Li answered, and there was Shu Ran with her newly dyed red hair. The sunlight glinted off her hair, making it seem as if she was glowing. Her long hair flowed smoothly around her face, and her smile was charmingly playful.
"Darling, have you missed me lately?"
"Of course I miss our Princess Ran Ran!"
"When are you guys on break?"
The two shared a lively atmosphere, their tones filled with joy.
Shu Ran was outside; around her were people of various ethnicities, and the sounds of English filled the air—just a reminder of where she was.
"I've already informed Meng Meng that I'll be arriving at the domestic airport on the 22nd at 5 PM."
