Yun Li was also puzzled about what Qin Nianchu meant.
After finishing their meal, Jiang Shiyu took the initiative to hold Yun Li's hand, his fingertips gliding across her palm, their fingers interlocking. Yun Li felt a sudden tickle in her palm and wanted to pull her hand away, but Jiang Shiyu held on tightly.
Qin Nianzhe had drunk too much and was being carried out by Zhang Mingyu and Xu Jiaxing. After hailing two cars, Qin Nianchu turned to Yun Li and said, "Li Li, it's time to go."
Jiang Shiyu leaned down and whispered in her ear, "Compensation."
Yun Li's ears twitched as she replied to Qin Nianchu and Chen Jin Xiu, "You guys go ahead; I still have something to take care of."
Qin Nianchu and Chen Jin Xiu exchanged glances between the two of them before finally relenting, "Alright! Come back soon."
Yun Li nodded, and Qin Nianzhe was also pushed into a car. The two vehicles started up and drove away.
Yun Li quietly glanced at him, thinking that they hadn't kept anything from each other, so she could forgo the compensation.
Jiang Shiyu gently rubbed her hand with his thumb, his voice low: "Hao Hao, not keeping secrets isn't my fault."
Moreover, since they hadn't sat together, there still needed to be some compensation.
"What kind of compensation are you talking about?" she asked.
Jiang Shiyu led her forward. "You'll find out soon enough."
Yun Li looked around at the nearby shops, thinking about what she could buy as compensation for him. She pointed excitedly at a watch store and said, "Let's go check this out!"
Jiang Shiyu glanced at her. "Do you like watches?"
Yun Li was taken aback. "Aren't we getting something for you?"
Jiang Shiyu chuckled softly, his voice still low but filled with amusement: "Hao Hao, when I said compensation, I didn't mean something material."
Yun Li didn't quite understand what he meant but allowed Jiang Shiyu to lead her away.
Once they reached a quieter area, Jiang Shiyu released her hand and placed his hand on her shoulder, coaxing her gently: "Hao Hao, look up."
Yun Li complied, looking up obediently with a blank expression on her face that carried a hint of coolness.
Jiang Shiyu wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into his embrace. Before Yun Li could react, he kissed her.
Yun Li's eyes widened in surprise; she held her breath. The kiss was not deep—just a light peck or two before he pulled away.
Yun Li lowered her head, her forehead resting against his chest, feeling extremely shy. What if someone saw them outside?
Dressed in a thick down jacket, Jiang Shiyu couldn't feel her soft waist and was somewhat dissatisfied. He held back his feelings, his Adam's apple bobbing as he spoke in a hoarse voice, "Hao Hao, can you stay away from He Lin Cheng, please?"
Yun Li looked up in confusion, and Jiang Shiyu's eyes were filled with a smile as he gazed down at her. "What's wrong with Senior He? Did you misunderstand something?"
Jiang Shiyu couldn't help but reach out to pinch her cold cheek. "There's no misunderstanding; I just can't stand him."
He pulled out his phone and showed Yun Li the photo of Qin Nianchu he had sent to her.
Yun Li was a bit surprised. "How did you get these photos?"
Seeing that she didn't realize the seriousness of the situation, Jiang Shiyu leaned down and kissed her fiercely. Yun Li closed her eyes, gently furrowing her brows as she asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Jiang Shiyu bit his back teeth, squeezing the words out through clenched jaws. "He hugged you."
Yun Li hadn't thought he would notice that. A warm feeling spread through her heart. Did his jealousy mean that his feelings for her weren't just a fleeting whim?
"Jiang Shiyu, are you jealous?"
