Qin Nianzhe looked up and shouted in anger, "No! How can you two be together?" He pointed incredulously at Yun Li and Jiang Shiyu, unable to accept the reality.
Jiang Shiyu scoffed, raising an eyebrow with a carefree tone, "Why do you care?"
Xu Jiaxing stood up and patted him on the shoulder. "We didn't tell you because we were afraid you couldn't handle it. Bro, it's time to face reality!"
Qin Nianzhe turned away, feeling desolate. "You knew too?"
Zhang Yu turned around and raised his hand. "I know too."
Qin Nianzhe shouted again, "How do you both know?"
Zhang Yu giggled, "Your sister told us."
This meal was becoming impossible to swallow. Qin Nianzhe felt his beliefs crumbling.
Jiang Shiyu grabbed him and pushed him down to sit properly.
Qin Nianzhe wiped away his tears pitifully, turning his head away from Jiang Shiyu.
Qin Nianchu shouted, "Qin Nianzhe, get a grip! They don’t even like you at home. Why are you so upset?"
Yun Li watched the scene helplessly. Qin Nianzhe usually acted a bit more flamboyant than the others, and Yun Li thought he was just playful and liked to talk big. He didn’t expect him to look so heartbroken.
As everyone gathered and the dishes were served, Qin Nianchu crossed her arms and pouted in dissatisfaction. "Li Li, how could you start dating without telling us right away? That's just not cool."
Chen Jin Xiu took a bite of food and chimed in, "Exactly! I thought you had something going on with Senior He!"
Jiang Shiyu glanced over at them while Yun Li responded to Qin Nianchu, "No, Nianchu, don’t say that."
Chen Jin Xiu naturally didn’t notice Jiang Shiyu’s expression as she continued, "Li Li, honestly, finding someone in the same field gives you more to talk about. Senior He is so handsome! It would be a shame if you didn’t consider him."
"And what about Senior Shen? He's not bad either! Why don’t you think about it?" Yun Li teased, causing Chen Jin Xiu to pause for a moment.
"Right! Xiu'er, isn’t Senior Shen pursuing you? How’s that going?"
Chen Jin Xiu's tone became unexpectedly shy. "It’s just... whatever."
Yun Li and Qin Nianchu exchanged amused glances; it seemed there was potential there.
The gathering was not as cheerful as imagined. Qin Nianzhe sulked throughout, refusing to eat even when Jiang Shiyu offered him food. When Jiang Shiyu poured him a drink, he turned it down as well. Frustrated, Jiang Shiyu kicked him lightly, but he only clung to Jiang Shiyu and started to cry, claiming that he was being bullied. Disgusted, Jiang Shiyu pushed him away.
Qin Nianchu searched the school forum for photos from Yun Li's performance. She saved the pictures of Yun Li and Senior He, then casually forwarded them to Jiang Shiyu. Keeping a close watch on them, she smirked when Jiang Shiyu put down his chopsticks to check his phone. Leaning closer to Yun Li, she whispered, "Li Li, watch how I create a little sense of crisis for him."
It couldn't be that easy to win him over. Qin Nianchu wanted Jiang Shiyu to realize that Yun Li was a treasure, with many eyes on her! Sure enough, Jiang Shiyu noticed the photos. On stage, Yun Li and He Lin Cheng held hands tightly; zooming in revealed the strain in their grip.
Jiang Shiyu's gaze fell, his eyes cold. The next photo showed Yun Li being princess-carried by He Lin Cheng, both looking flustered as they glanced away. But Jiang Shiyu's focus was on He Lin Cheng's hands resting on Yun Li's waist and legs. The coldness in his eyes deepened into something more sinister; the last touch still lingered in his memory—Yun Li's delicate waist could ensnare his soul with just a gentle twist.
Jiang Shiyu set his phone down and cast a faint glance at Qin Nianchu. Unfazed, Qin Nianchu continued eating happily.
