Yun Li woke up in the afternoon. After tidying herself up, she applied light makeup and put on a high-collared top, layering it with a long, light pink down jacket. She preferred wearing jeans, and once she was ready, she headed out.
As soon as she opened the dormitory door, she ran into Zheng Yating, who was returning from outside. Upon seeing Yun Li, Zheng Yating's eyes, filled with hostility, curled into a sneer. Yun Li felt speechless; she hadn’t done anything to provoke her! The two exchanged no words and went their separate ways.
Yun Li received a call from Jiang Shiyu. "Are you awake?" he asked.
"Yeah, just send me the address and I'll come over."
But Jiang Shiyu replied, "I’m downstairs."
Yun Li was taken aback, her tone laced with surprise. "Why are you here so early?"
"Just thought I’d come over early," he said casually.
Yun Li quickened her pace and rushed downstairs. The snow fell heavily, blanketing everything in white. A black umbrella was covered in snow, beneath which stood a tall man dressed in a black coat with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath. His features were sharp and cold. When he spotted Yun Li, a subtle smile appeared at the corners of his mouth as he walked toward her.
Without waiting for him to approach, Yun Li hurried down the steps to meet him. Jiang Shiyu instinctively reached out to catch her, his large hand firmly grasping her wrist.
A few flakes of snow landed in Yun Li's hair, and Jiang Shiyu raised his hand to brush them away. "Why are you running? I came to pick you up."
Yun Li smiled softly, "How long have you been waiting here? You should have messaged me when you arrived."
Jiang Shiyu cleared the snow from her hair and tightened his grip on her hand. His voice was deep and carried a hint of the whistling wind. "I didn’t want to disturb your rest."
A warmth spread through Yun Li's heart. She wasn't sure if Jiang Shiyu treated other girls this way, but his thoughtfulness genuinely moved her.
"Let’s go!" Jiang Shiyu’s hand was cold against her warm one, causing Yun Li to shiver slightly. He tucked her hand into his coat pocket.
He looked down at her and asked, "Is this better?"
Yun Li nodded.
She glanced around; there weren’t many people outside in the heavy snow, making her feel somewhat uneasy. "You know, next time you don’t have to wait for me downstairs."
Jiang Shiyu noticed her thoughts and gently squeezed her palm. "Hao Hao, I'm your boyfriend. If you act like this, it makes me feel like I'm just your backup, afraid of being discovered by your real boyfriend."
Yun Li's face flushed, and she bit her lip, falling silent.
The two of them arrived at the restaurant, where Qin Nianzhe was already waiting for them.
At the entrance of the private room, Yun Li pulled her hand away from his. "Let's not tell them about us just yet!"
Hearing this, Jiang Shiyu furrowed his brows slightly, raising his tone at the end. "Why?"
"I'm still getting used to it," she replied.
Jiang Shiyu found this answer somewhat acceptable. He clenched his back teeth, making his jaw tense up a bit, and squeezed out a single word through his teeth: "Fine, but I want compensation."
Yun Li nodded without hesitation in agreement.
Seeing her relaxed and unguarded demeanor, Jiang Shiyu couldn't help but smile. Silly girl.
He pushed the door open and walked in. Yun Li waited outside for a moment; it took her about three or four minutes before she finally pushed the door open to enter.
Today’s gathering consisted only of their small group; no other random people were invited.
As soon as Yun Li arrived, Qin Nianzhe immediately greeted her warmly. "Li Li, over here!"
Jiang Shiyu narrowed his eyes and kicked him lightly. "What are you calling out for?"
After being kicked, Qin Nianzhe innocently rubbed his calf and tilted his head to look at him. "Li Li! What's wrong? Everyone calls her that."
