Yun Li decided to take a stroll, noting how different things were over there compared to here.
"Yeah, I was just thinking about going out," she replied. After hanging up the phone with Qin Nianchu, there was a knock at her door. She opened it to find two girls standing outside.
"Yun Li, we're going out! It’s more fun with a bigger group," one of them said.
Yun Li nodded, "Just give me a moment to change into some different pants." Although she was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, her jeans were lined with fleece and she even had thermal leggings underneath, making her feel quite warm.
After changing into a lighter pair of jeans and tucking her shirt in, she quickly ran a comb through her hair.
As soon as they arrived in the hotel lobby, Yun Li's phone rang. It was Senior He—she had completely forgotten about him.
"Hey! Senior He, we're in the lobby, come down!" she said.
"Okay, we’ll be waiting for you," she added.
One of the girls beside her, licking a lollipop with an inquisitive expression, asked, "Yun Li, you and Senior He seem to be getting along pretty well lately. What do you think of him?"
Yun Li was momentarily taken aback and then felt a bit embarrassed. "Senior He is... nice."
The girl widened her eyes and leaned in closer, her tone teasingly rising, "Nice? So that means you have feelings for him!"
Yun Li froze, flustered as she waved her hands dismissively. "No, no! It's not like that!"
The two girls stifled their laughter behind their hands. Just then, a clear male voice interrupted from behind them. "What are you all talking about?"
Yun Li turned around to see He Lin Cheng approaching in a black shirt and casual pants. He stood tall and elegant, with a warm smile that revealed strong muscles beneath his skin.
Having just been misunderstood moments ago, Yun Li felt her face flush as if she had been caught doing something sneaky. This was so awkward! She hoped he hadn’t heard anything.
The two girls were about to spill the beans when Yun Li quickly interjected, "Senior He was just saying how amazing you are; you're a role model for us!"
Seeing Yun Li’s flustered demeanor mixed with her serious tone made the girls think she was simply shy; they exchanged amused glances before settling down a bit.
He Lin Cheng's gaze met Yun Li's, his tone elongated, "I see!"
Yun Li breathed a sigh of relief when she noticed he hadn't heard what she said earlier. She then subtly gestured for the two girls to tone it down. Understanding that Yun Li was shy, the girls quickly quieted down to give her some face.
The group arrived at Chen Academy and was immediately captivated by the grandeur of the large ancestral hall.
Liu Han exclaimed, "Wow! Whose ancestral hall is this? They must have a ton of mines at home!"
He Lin Cheng checked his phone and discovered that this hall wasn't built by a single family but was a collective effort from the representatives of Chen County. This explained its impressive scale and rich history, as it had now become a tourist attraction.
Liu Han nodded in understanding, "I see!"
Without needing an entrance fee, they entered the hall, its walls made of grayish-white bricks. The main gate was tall and imposing; Yun Li thought to herself that if it fell, it could crush a whole crowd. Looking up, she noticed two guardian deities on the door.
Yun Li took out her phone to snap some pictures and shared them in their dorm group chat.
After two minutes, Chen Jin Xiu appeared online, asking, "Li Li, where are you guys?"
Yun Li replied, "We're at Chen Academy in Hua County; it's quite spectacular."
Qin Nianchu chimed in, "Wow, that door looks majestic!"
Yun Li also sent a photo of the intricate wooden carvings, noting their fine craftsmanship.
Chen Jin Xiu responded, "Look, is it just you there?"
Qin Nianchu quickly replied, "Hehe, I bet you're with Senior He!"
Yun Li added a nodding emoji and mentioned, "I'm here with two girls from our class, Liu Han and Liu Li."
Liu Han called out to Yun Li and when she looked up, Liu Han aimed her camera at her and said, "Let me take a picture of you."
Yun Li set her phone down and stood straight against a row of wooden carvings behind her.
