After parting ways, Yun Li returned to her dormitory to take a shower. Once she finished, she glanced at her phone. A message from Jiang Shiyu had come in.
"I'm a bit busy lately. Let's talk after things settle down."
Yun Li was taken aback, her calm heart suddenly racing again. She stared at her phone and smiled foolishly for a long time, quickly forgetting her previous sadness.
Then, her father, Yun Zheng, called. After answering, her voice brightened with joy.
"Dad, did you bring Mom home?"
"I did. Your mother has been so busy lately that she hasn't had time to eat and has lost quite a bit of weight. You take care of yourself over there, okay? It's getting cold; make sure to dress warmly."
"Yeah, don't worry! I'm doing well!"
After hanging up with Yun Zheng, Yun Li happily hummed a tune while using a hairdryer to dry her hair. When Zheng Yating returned, she found Yun Li in a good mood applying a face mask.
Yun Li had been feeling down lately after breaking up with her boyfriend, who had started to pester her again, which was quite bothersome. Seeing Yun Li in such high spirits naturally made Zheng Yating feel less cheerful.
Zheng Yating's movements became noticeably more forceful as she rummaged through things. Yun Li ignored her and opened her book to study; cultural subjects were important too, and it would be too late to prepare when the final exams came around.
After studying for a while, Yun Li reviewed some key points when the door opened, revealing Qin Nianchu and Chen Jin Xiu returning.
They greeted Yun Li as they entered. "Don't forget about your cultural subjects and the homework!" Yun Li reminded them.
Qin Nianchu let out a playful howl before sweet-talking, "Li Li Baby, did you finish yours? Can I borrow it?"
Yun Li tossed her homework over. "Check if it's the same."
Their cultural subjects teacher was the same for all of them, so their assignments were usually identical. However, the timing for assigning homework varied; it was possible that the Classical Dance Department had already completed theirs while the Chinese Folk Dance Department had not yet assigned theirs.
Qin Nianchu opened to the page Yun Li had just finished writing but realized it wasn't the assignment given by the teacher. She flipped back a page and found it.
Qin Nianchu often did this and happily continued filling in her homework.
Chen Jin Xiu peeked over and said, "I think my assignment was due on the same day as Li Li's, but I finished mine yesterday."
Qin Nianchu pouted playfully. "Hmph! You guys are so hardworking that I feel ashamed! But I need to step up my game too; no more slacking off! Hehe."
Qin Nianchu took a shower only after finishing her homework.
As the month was coming to an end, Yun Li and He Lin Cheng had become familiar with each other, their teamwork growing more seamless. Jiang Shiyu had also completed the Fei Luan Design Competition and secured first place.
Qin Nianzhe organized a gathering to celebrate and invited Qin Nianchu, Yun Li, and Chen Jin Xiu to join. However, none of them had the time to attend, so Qin Nianzhe ended up going out for drinks with his roommates instead.
The bar was loud and lively, the noise making everyone's hearts race in rhythm with the music. Qin Nianzhe poured some drinks and shouted, "Come on, come on! Congratulations to Brother Yu for winning first place! I told you A Yu would definitely make it!"
Zhang Mingyu took a sip of his drink, lightly furrowing his brow as he chimed in, "You should have seen Fang Yang's face back then; it was hilarious."
Jiang Shiyu lounged in the booth, lazily curling her lips into a smile as she sipped her drink. "Wasn't Fang Yang dating that Zheng Yating before? They broke up last month, so that's why he was competing against A Yu this time," Qin Nianzhe explained.
Zhang Mingyu and Xu Jiaxing exchanged knowing glances, realizing the situation at last. Xu Jiaxing raised his glass and said, "No wonder he's been looking at Brother Yu strangely lately. I thought he had a crush on him!" His teasing remark made Zhang Mingyu and Qin Nianzhe burst into laughter.
Jiang Shiyu lit a cigarette and playfully kicked Xu Jiaxing, scolding him with a laugh, "You idiot."
Xu Jiaxing surrendered repeatedly after being kicked, "Just joking, just joking!" He noticed some drink spilling from his glass and pulled out a napkin to wipe his hands.
