Yun Li was completely enveloped in Jiang Shiyu's embrace as he carried her out. As they emerged, she felt the fresh air fill her lungs, gasping for breath.
Jiang Shiyu's hand rested on her shoulder; it was small and delicate, soft in a way that was new to him. She felt light in his arms, almost like a doll, so adorable that it made him want to hold her forever.
However, once they were outside, Yun Li pushed him away and turned her back to him, her expression shifting to one of shyness. Jiang Shiyu looked at his empty hands, feeling a pang in his heart as if something was missing. He lowered his hands and chuckled lightly, "Isn't it a bit heartless for you to just toss aside someone after using them, Yun Li?"
Yun Li's heart raced, and her voice turned soft and tiny. "No way! I’m fine now; you can go back!"
Jiang Shiyu bent down to meet her gaze, asking playfully, "Can you manage on your own, or should I stay with you?"
Yun Li stared into his Peach Blossom Eyes, her eyes widening in disbelief. Did he just call me Hao Hao? The name sounded sweeter coming from his lips.
Her cheeks flushed deeper with embarrassment. If she had any doubts before, they were gone now; she was sure that Yun Li liked him. The way someone looks at the person they like never changes. He had never liked anyone else but had seen it before.
Yun Li turned her head away from him, refusing to meet his gaze and trying to sound firm. "Yeah, I can manage."
Jiang Shiyu stood up straight, hands in his pockets, exuding a relaxed demeanor with a casual smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "I’m not worried about that! Let’s take a walk together."
As he walked ahead of her, the realization of their connection made his heart feel light and content. Yun Li's face was still flushed; she felt frustrated with herself for being so easily flustered.
She followed behind him as the evening breeze cooled the air, clearing her mind somewhat and dissipating the blush on her cheeks. They arrived at a park where a lake shimmered under the city lights. Many elderly people and children played around; the weather was just right—not too hot or too cold—perfect for an outing.
As the city lit up with brilliant lights above them like scattered stars, Yun Li noticed that Jiang Shiyu was only wearing a short-sleeved shirt and wondered if he would feel cold.
He often dressed lightly, and surprisingly, he rarely fell ill.
When Jiang Shiyu noticed the young girl behind him, he stopped and turned to her. "Come up a bit."
Yun Li, not understanding but following his instructions, stood beside him and asked, "What’s wrong?"
A playful smile tugged at the corners of Jiang Shiyu's mouth; this girl was quite silly. He didn't know what other girls were like, but this one was adorably naive.
Without saying anything further, he continued walking forward, and Yun Li kept pace with him.
Suddenly, Yun Li's eyes brightened as she spotted something and she jogged ahead.
Jiang Shiyu followed her gaze.
Yun Li stopped in front of an old man selling balloons. "Grandpa, how much is this balloon?"
"Fifteen for one, my dear."
Yun Li took a ten from her bag and handed it to the old man. After giving her change, he let her choose.
At that moment, Jiang Shiyu approached. "Do you like this one?"
Yun Li's eyes sparkled like stars as she nodded eagerly. "Grandpa, I want that one—the Pink Pig!"
"Alright, I'll get it for you," the old man replied.
He rummaged through a pile of strings and found the Pink Pig, handing it to her.
Yun Li took it and then pulled on the string to show it to him. "Isn't it cute?"
The Pink Pig obscured Yun Li's face, but Jiang Shiyu could still imagine her expression perfectly. Her eyes must have been crescent-shaped, sparkling like stars, with a sweet smile that was both innocent and captivating.
