Jiang Shiyu pressed one hand against the tray and replied softly, "Mm."
Yun Li felt a bit reluctant, but it was indeed time to leave; lingering any longer would draw attention. She grabbed her unfinished milk tea, got out of the car, and as she was about to close the door, she said, "Be careful on the road. Goodbye."
Jiang Shiyu nodded, and once Yun Li closed the door, he drove off into the community. He watched her beautiful figure disappear from view through the car window before starting the engine.
As he drove along the road, Jiang Shiyu received a call from Gao Zhong Xue, a friend he often hung out with.
"Brother Yu, we're having a gathering in Gu District. Are you coming?"
Jiang Shiyu didn't refuse. "Mm, send me the address."
When he arrived at the bar, Jiang Shiyu settled into a booth surrounded by many men and women, most of whom were friends from Gao Zhong Xue's circle.
As soon as he arrived, everyone became noticeably more excited and began asking if he had a girlfriend in Beijing.
Jiang Shiyu lit a cigarette, a playful smile tugging at his lips. The bar was dimly lit, and the swirling smoke made it hard to discern the emotions in his eyes.
"It's over."
The two words were heard by everyone, and amidst laughter, the topic quickly shifted. Jiang Shiyu didn't like excessive questioning, and everyone was aware of that.
After drinking a bit, he accidentally spilled some liquor while pouring it; it didn't stain his clothes but did wet his hands. He stood up to wash his hands in the restroom.
At the restroom entrance, men and women were chatting; some rushed in to vomit violently.
Jiang Shiyu diligently washed his hands, and just as he finished, a piece of paper was handed to him from the side.
He looked over to see a girl who appeared shy, wearing a t-shirt and denim shorts. She had an uncertain look in her eyes.
Jiang Shiyu didn't have much of an impression of her but figured she must know him.
He took the paper and said, "Thank you," his voice slightly hoarse, adding an air of depth to his demeanor.
The girl blushed and replied softly, "You're welcome."
After drying his hands without looking back at her, he turned to head back when she suddenly said, "Jiang Shiyu, I like you."
Jiang Shiyu paused for a moment, a casual smile playing on his lips. His peach blossom eyes held a hint of amusement but remained indifferent as ever.
He turned his head, his voice casual, as if he was asking me if I wanted to date him. The girl’s face turned even redder, her palms growing warm as she nervously nodded.
"Is that okay?" she asked timidly, her tone cautious.
"Sure," Jiang Shiyu replied. "One month. If it works out, we can date."
With that, he walked away. The girl stood there, momentarily stunned, before a wave of happiness washed over her.
As soon as Jiang Shiyu sat back down, he picked up his phone and noticed a message from Yun Li.
"Have you made it home yet?" she had texted.
"No, I'm out having fun," he replied.
Yun Li was lying on her bed waiting for his response; when her phone buzzed, she eagerly picked it up. "Oh, enjoy yourself. I'm going to sleep now."
His reply came quickly this time. "Okay."
Yun Li began typing a goodnight message but hesitated, feeling that saying goodnight might sound a bit too intimate. In the end, she decided not to send it.
The girl who had just expressed her feelings returned, and the seat next to Jiang Shiyu was already occupied. She fixed her gaze on the empty spot beside him, and when a boy stood up, she immediately rushed over to sit down.
The others around them began to tease. Jiang Shiyu remained unfazed, his attention glued to his phone.
The girl blushed and gently asked, "Do you want another drink?"
Jiang Shiyu didn’t respond; instead, he tapped into Yun Li’s profile. Her Moments were public, allowing him to see everything she had posted. She didn’t share often, but when she did, it was always about beautiful things—flowers, sunsets, stunning landscapes—very few selfies.
Seeing that he wasn’t answering her question, the girl glanced at his phone screen.
The girl's approach made Jiang Shiyu furrow his brow. He stood up and addressed the crowd, "I'm leaving."
Seeing this, the girl immediately got up and chased after him.
Outside, there were many drivers waiting, and Jiang Shiyu casually picked one.
The girl called out after him, "Jiang Shiyu!"
He paused, his expression cold. "What is it?" he asked, his voice even more indifferent.
The girl bit her lip, feeling a bit wronged. "Are we together now?"
Jiang Shiyu suddenly remembered that he had just agreed to her earlier.
"Do you have my WeChat?" he asked.
The girl nodded.
"Message me," he instructed.
She complied, and as soon as Jiang Shiyu received her message, he immediately transferred her ten thousand yuan.
"If you need more, let me know," he added before getting into the passenger seat.
He left the girl standing there in shock.
