He was momentarily taken aback, as Jiang Ci's voice danced in his ears: "I want to eat."
That mischievous kid.
Jiang Shiyu felt a vein throb on his forehead; the anger that had subsided a bit flared up again.
He decided not to care anymore, letting it be.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ci's eyes lit up, and he ran back to obediently line up.
Yun Li couldn't help but smile, the corners of her mouth curving up in amusement.
Jiang Shiyu took a couple of steps closer to Jiang Ci and asked, "Did you come alone?"
"I came with friends."
"Where are your friends?" Jiang Shiyu inquired.
Yun Li turned her head, stretching her neck and pointing towards the seven o'clock direction. "They are lining up over there."
Jiang Shiyu glanced in the direction she indicated.
Then his gaze returned to her; today she wore a blue spaghetti strap top, the delicate straps resting on her slender shoulders.
Jiang Ci's bright eyes darted between the two of them before he called out, "Brother, what's your relationship with this pretty sister?"
Yun Li tightened her grip on her phone, her breath becoming lighter.
Jiang Shiyu shot him a sidelong glance, his tone teasing. "Aren't you going to buy ice cream?"
Fearing that Jiang Shiyu would stop him again, Jiang Ci quickly nodded. "Yes! I will buy it." He fell silent after that.
Yun Li noticed the slight smile that appeared on her lips; he was like that—always threatening others, and yet no one dared to defy him.
Soon it was Yun Li's turn, and she ordered an ice cream.
After placing her order, she turned to the little boy and said, "I'll treat you."
Jiang Ci glanced at Jiang Shiyu for permission, unsure if he could accept it. Jiang Shiyu casually shoved his hands into his pockets and lifted his chin slightly.
Jiang Ci happily approached her; as soon as he received the ice cream, he began to lick it eagerly.
Jiang Shiyu stepped forward to help her carry it.
Suddenly, a figure dashed over and stood beside Yun Li, snatching the ice cream from her hand. "Give it to me!" The voice was clear and melodious.
Jiang Shiyu paused, his sharp features suddenly darkening.
Peng Qingyu took two ice creams and stood beside Yun Li. He was a head taller than her, with a tall and sturdy build. The two of them standing together felt oddly striking.
Jiang Shiyu blinked lightly, shifting his gaze away as he casually smirked at the distant red horizon.
Yun Li and Peng Qingyu approached, then looked at Jiang Shiyu. "I'll go ahead then; you two can play," she said.
Jiang Shiyu nodded without speaking.
Jiang Ci was constantly observing Jiang Shiyu's expression and also nodded, not daring to say anything.
Once Yun Li and Peng Qingyu left, Jiang Shiyu turned his attention to their retreating figures. They were chatting, with Yun Li always smiling, her eyes curving beautifully. The crimson sky complemented her fair skin.
Jiang Shiyu narrowed his eyes slightly, causing Jiang Ci to feel a sudden alarm. He weakly called out, "Brother."
Jiang Shiyu's voice was deep and resonant as he continued to gaze in that direction. "Do you want to ride the carousel?"
Though Jiang Ci didn't understand why, he obediently nodded.
"Come here," Jiang Shiyu instructed.
Jiang Ci moved closer, and Jiang Shiyu crouched down to whisper something to him.
Then the two of them headed toward the carousel. They were almost at Yun Li and the others when they noticed that the ice cream in Yun Li's hand was melting quickly, so she was eating it fast. Soon, it was leveled off in her hand, allowing her to savor it slowly.
Suddenly, a familiar male voice called from behind, "Jiang Ci, what are you up to now?"
The little boy cried out stubbornly, "I want to ride the carousel!"
