After finishing their meal, a few of them strolled along to aid digestion. Qin Nianchu, rubbing her round belly, linked arms with Yun Li and casually glanced over at Qin Nianzhe. "Get me some digestive tablets."
"Seriously, couldn't you have thought ahead and brought some?" Qin Nianzhe grumbled but still headed off to find a pharmacy.
Suddenly, Qin Nianchu felt a sharp pain in her stomach. "Li Li, I need to use the restroom."
"I'll look for a public toilet," Yun Li said, pulling out her phone to search. Just then, a deep male voice nearby interjected, "There's a restroom around the corner."
Yun Li turned to see Jiang Shiyu standing there, his expression calm and relaxed, one hand in his pocket, exuding a laid-back demeanor.
Yun Li led Qin Nianchu toward the public restroom while the two of them waited outside for her. The sky was dimly lit, and the streetlights flickered on. Standing beneath the lamppost, they kept a slight distance between them. Yun Li took a deep breath, feeling nervous as she kept glancing at her phone.
"Ran Ran, I'm standing next to him now," she texted.
A gentle smile crept onto Yun Li's lips as she felt her eyes brighten with excitement. Shu Ran was probably already asleep since it was nighttime abroad.
Jiang Shiyu's gaze fell on her shoulder; the strap of her top was so thin it seemed like it could snap with just a light tug. Yun Li's slender frame made her chest appear flat from his angle, but he could see a delicate curve beneath her shirt.
As the evening breeze picked up, it cooled down the lingering heat. Strands of hair brushed against her cheeks, some even falling at the corners of her mouth. Yun Li tucked them behind her ear.
She was currently messaging Qin Nianchu. "She might take a while," she thought.
Yun Li's eyes subtly lifted to look at him. After a long silence between them, they finally initiated their first conversation: "Let's find somewhere to sit!" Nianchu suggested, as if they had more time to spare.
Jiang Shiyu shifted his gaze elsewhere and pointed in that direction.
Yun Li followed his lead, walking in tandem—one tall and one short—casting long shadows on the ground.
After walking a short distance, they indeed found some benches. Jiang Shiyu sat down with his long legs sprawled out casually, adopting an air of nonchalance.
Yun Li settled beside him, feeling like a well-behaved girl caught under his imposing presence.
Jiang Shiyu pulled out his phone and opened a gaming app. "Are you playing games?" he asked.
Yun Li turned to him and shook her head.
She knew that Jiang Shiyu liked to play games, any game at all. She wanted to understand, but her time was tight; previously at Affiliated High School, she lived on campus and had no time to play on her phone, so she was only at the stage of wanting to learn more.
Jiang Shiyu opened the game page, selected the mage class, and handed his phone to her. "Give it a try," he said.
Yun Li felt a flutter of excitement inside as she took his phone. It was her first time using his device, and for some reason, her heart raced.
A deep, rich male voice sounded in her ear: "You can move freely with the left button; you can go up, down, left, or right."
Following his instructions, Yun Li moved around, her palms sweating with nervousness. The training camp was filled with NPCs, so it wasn't too intimidating.
"First, use your skill to control him," he advised.
Yun Li's voice was soft and filled with confusion. "Which one is the skill?"
"The one in the middle."
Following his guidance, Yun Li pressed the skill button but missed her target completely. Panic set in as she ran aimlessly and lost half her health.
Feeling a bit defeated, her brows furrowed with disappointment.
"Once you land your skill, you can throw out other skills freely. Don't rush," Jiang Shiyu said patiently, his tone becoming gentler.
Nodding, Yun Li followed his advice and managed to secure a kill for the first time.
A smile finally spread across her face, but without realizing it, they had drawn closer together. When she became aware of it, she caught a whiff of Jiang Shiyu's scent—smoky mint.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, she noticed Qin Nianzhe running over, calling out, "What are you two doing?"
Startled, Yun Li looked up to see Qin Nianzhe approaching breathlessly.
She quickly returned the phone to Jiang Shiyu, her movements a bit flustered. Jiang Shiyu almost fumbled it but raised an eyebrow playfully at her.
Yun Li straightened up and stood rigidly; Nianchu was still in the restroom.
Qin Nianzhe took a couple of breaths before glancing at Jiang Shiyu, who had already tucked his phone into his pocket. There was a teasing smile in Qin Nianzhe's eyes as he casually leaned against the wall with his hands in his pockets.
"I called her; did she answer? She's always the slowest."
He pulled out his phone but got no response from the other end.
Frowning, Qin Nianzhe muttered to himself, "She wouldn't have gone out, would she?"
Yun Li took out her phone and called Qin Nianchu. After a while, the call was answered.
"Nianchu, are you there?"
"I’m here. I can see you all," Yun Li replied, turning her head to look. Sure enough, Qin Nianchu was walking towards them from a distance.
Yun Li sighed in relief as Qin Nianzhe tossed her a digestive tablet. "I thought you had fallen into a pit."
Qin Nianchu shot him a glare. "I was just washing my hands; I didn’t have time to answer the phone."
She popped one of the tablets into her mouth and asked Yun Li, "Do you want one?"
Yun Li shook her head. "I’m not feeling too bloated."
She hadn’t eaten too much; otherwise, it would be easy to reveal her weight next week.
The group continued walking.
