As soon as those words were spoken, the entire room erupted in chaos.
My father's imposing aura frightened even the one who had just begged for mercy, leaving him too scared to breathe. My Second Brother straightened up at the sight of our elder brother asserting his authority.
“Father, harsh truths are hard to hear. Are you really willing to hurt your sons' hearts for an unfilial daughter who has defied the Su Family?”
Upon hearing this, my father jumped up and shouted angrily, “I’m not dead yet! I can still see who is right and who is wrong! You heartless wretches!”
In his fury, he ordered the bodyguards to give my two brothers a severe lesson. I grabbed my father's hand, trying to calm him down, but he looked at me with guilt in his eyes. “I was wrong, my dear. I haven’t cared for you enough, and I’ve let you suffer.”
To reassure him, it was time for me to assert my authority as well.
“Anyone who pleads for Su Qi will be expelled from the Su Family—none shall remain.”
As soon as I finished speaking, everyone looked at me in horror. It was as if they were questioning whether I should pretend to be magnanimous and forgive them, perhaps even bestow some favors to earn a reputation for being virtuous.
Su Qi was also stunned; after a long moment, she looked at me in disbelief. “How could a Noble Young Lady be so ruthless? You’re driving me and so many servants away! Don’t you fear the gossip from Jingquan’s people?”
I shrugged mockingly. “You’ve enjoyed the benefits of being my substitute for so many years while constantly targeting and humiliating me. You put on one face in public and another behind closed doors—this is your idea of a noble model? I’d rather do away with it all; it’s time to set things right.”
Having died once already, I cared little for the worthless reputation that others valued so highly.
As she was dragged away, her lifeless eyes suddenly ignited with fury. She stared intently at my Book Boy as he pulled out item after item from her small suitcase.
Suddenly breaking free from her restraints, she lunged forward. “These are all mine! Everything belongs to me!”
“On what grounds do you think you can take these? I’m taking them all with me!”
I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “What makes you think these things are yours?”
My hand slowly brushed over the jewelry and treasures in the suitcase. These were all hidden treasures of the Su Family, including many valuable collectibles.
She had occupied me for so long that she foolishly believed everything belonged to her.
"Don't you understand? Everything about the Su Family does not belong to you. If you had kept your place, you might have had a space to call your own, but you wanted too much."
I cast a disdainful glance at her, her face as gray as dirt.
"Which of your accessories isn’t mine? You can’t take any of it with you."
With that, my Book Boy stepped forward and yanked the jewelry from her. She stumbled back in a panic, ultimately clutching tightly to the jade pendant around her neck.
At that moment, Han Qing burst in with his servants.
Su Qi clung to the pendant like a lifeline, exclaiming, "Han Qing, are you here to rescue me?"
I watched as the people behind Han Qing carried a large pile of betrothal gifts.
Instantly, Su Qi regained her lofty demeanor and flaunted it in front of me.
"Su Lin, who cares about your Su Family's worthless things? I have an engagement with Childhood Sweetheart Han Qing, while you are just a pitiful abandoned creature. You'll never be able to surpass me!"
Her words made me shake my head in disbelief. At that moment, I finally felt relieved; it turned out she was so afraid—afraid that my presence would expose her true self.
Seeing my expressionless face, her smugness vanished in an instant as she frantically questioned, "What kind of expression is that? You should be unwilling! Your fiancé proposed to me and is about to marry me!"
Han Qing shot her a fierce glare at her words. "What are you going crazy for? A lonely girl thinks she can marry me?"
As Su Qi approached him, he kicked her away without mercy.
"It’s all because of you, you shameless woman, seducing me and then despicably framing Su Lin."
He snatched back the jade pendant he had given Su Qi and presented it to me with a flattering smile.
"Su Lin, this pendant is a family heirloom. If it weren't for this shameless woman stirring trouble, I would never have given it to her."
"My heart belongs only to you; let this pendant return to its rightful owner."
He then ordered the betrothal gifts that Su Qi had coveted to be brought before me and said sweetly, "These are all my apologies to you. Just tell me what else you want; even if it's the stars in the sky, I'll pluck them down for you."
