"Three hundred Green Plums, activated..."
Xiao Meng felt as if she had fallen into an overloaded washing machine, spinning wildly, her insides churning. The buzzing in her ears sounded like a thousand bees holding a concert, making her head throb with pain.
When she finally managed to regain her composure, the scene before her left her utterly stunned. A massive array of cultivation pods was neatly arranged around the altar, resembling a cloning factory from a sci-fi movie. Inside the pods floated three hundred identical "Green Plums"!
These "Green Plums" slowly opened their eyes, their gazes vacant and mechanical. On their chests, a strange glowing symbol appeared, and the three hundred symbols converged into a gigantic vortex, as if they were about to suck in a person's soul.
"Wow, what the hell is this? Mass-produced Green Plums?" Xiao Meng couldn't help but scoff. This Black-hearted Grandpa was truly insane; he had even managed to create clones—what a perfect blend of technology and ruthlessness!
The three hundred "Green Plums" turned to look at Xiao Meng in unison, an eerie smile creeping onto their lips as they spoke in chorus, "Sister's Witch Bloodline is the true key..."
Their voices sounded like three hundred low-quality speakers playing simultaneously, grating enough to make one wish for death on the spot. Xiao Meng felt her scalp tingle; what on earth was this Black-hearted Grandpa trying to pull?
Even more terrifying was that she sensed the symbol within her body beginning to stir restlessly, as if it wanted to detach from her.
"No way! Am I the one being sacrificed?! This plot twist is way too fast!" Xiao Meng thought frantically; this was practically the best soap opera script of the year!
Just when she felt the situation was dire, a brilliant starshine suddenly descended from above like a sword, piercing through the clones in an instant.
"Thud thud thud..."
A series of muffled sounds echoed as the symbols on the clones' chests dimmed instantly, like punctured balloons. Following that, the starshine coalesced into a beam of light that illuminated their napes.
There, she saw rows of tiny gear numbers engraved!
"These are fakes cloned using Mechanical Girl's Xing Sha by Cang Lan!" The voice of the Stellar High Priestess echoed in the air, tinged with anger.
Xiao Meng finally understood; these "Green Plums" were all impostors! Black-hearted Grandpa was too cunning to use such sleight of hand to confuse her.
However, before she could breathe a sigh of relief, another change occurred. The once puppet-like Green Plums suddenly lifted their heads, their gazes turning sharp and frenzied. One of them broke free from its restraints and lunged toward the altar like a cheetah.
“True Priestess is giving birth, and we need a living sacrifice!” Qingmei screamed, her voice piercing like a wailing ghost.
In a flash, she pressed a Mechanical Heart that shimmered with metallic luster into the center of the altar.
“Click… clack… click…”
The Mechanical Heart began to beat, emitting unsettling sounds. The patterns on the altar seemed to come alive, spreading wildly to form a massive defensive array.
The gears and components spun rapidly as if they had gained life, producing a harsh grinding noise. The entire altar was enveloped in an eerie red glow, exuding a suffocating sense of oppression.
“Holy crap! This plot twist is too intense! Qingmei is about to turn dark!” Xiao Meng felt her heart racing as if it might leap out of her chest; this was practically the live broadcast of the best horror movie of the year!
She wanted to stop Qingmei but found herself unable to approach the altar at all. The defensive array made of gears stood like an impenetrable wall, keeping her firmly at bay.
“Mengmeng! Be careful! Get away from there!” Sunshine's anxious voice rang in her ears. He tried to rush over to save her but was blocked by an invisible force that prevented him from getting closer.
“Sunshine! Don’t come over! It’s too dangerous here!” Xiao Meng shouted, not wanting him to fall into danger as well.
However, it was already too late.
The red glow on the altar intensified, and the entire space began to shake violently. Xiao Meng felt her body being torn apart by a powerful force, as if she were about to be crushed into pieces.
“Am I really going to meet my end here today? I haven’t found my Prince Charming yet, nor fulfilled my dream of technological advancement for my country; my life has just begun!” Xiao Meng screamed in despair within her mind.
Just when she was about to give up hope, a thought suddenly flashed through her mind.
“The Starry Marriage Contract! Yes, I can try the Starry Marriage Contract!” Xiao Meng grasped this lifeline desperately as she summoned her Starlight Power, attempting to connect with Sunshine.
But could she really succeed?
“Heh, it’s useless; your struggles are in vain. No one can stop the great ritual…” Cang Lan’s figure suddenly appeared before Xiao Meng, a sinister smile on her face like that of a demon.
“Is that so? Well, we’ll see about that…” The corners of Xiao Meng’s mouth lifted slightly, revealing a mysterious smile.
She slowly raised her head, her gaze firm and confident.
“Because I still have an ace up my sleeve…”
Xiao Meng took a deep breath as if she were inhaling all the unease from this bizarre space into her lungs before forcefully exhaling it out.
She closed her eyes and envisioned the invisible yet unbreakable bond of stars between herself and Sunshine—a connection that had existed since she was just an innocent little girl.
A strange resonance echoed within her, like the plucking of an ancient string, with sound waves spreading and rippling outward. She felt the distance between herself and Sunshine vanish in an instant, as if they had become one, sharing each other's breath and heartbeat.
Just then, a sudden change occurred! The bodies of three hundred "Plum Blossoms" began to flicker, resembling an old television with poor reception, crackling and shaking. Their forms gradually became transparent, twisting and deforming like melting wax figures, until they converged into a massive holographic image—Cang Lan.
The holographic image of Cang Lan hovered above the altar, looking down at Xiao Meng with a bizarre smile on its face. Its voice was ethereal and elusive: "Sister's consciousness is contained within these three hundred vessels..."
The voice struck Xiao Meng's heart like a cold knife. She felt a chill run down her spine, goosebumps rising all over her body. The plot had taken a terrifying turn! It turned out that Black-hearted Grandpa's target was not her, but rather to seize her consciousness?!
Before Xiao Meng could fully process this revelation, something even stranger happened. The Mechanical Girl's Xing Sha, which had been flitting about the Clone crowd like a firefly, suddenly erupted with a loud bang! Golden shards of Xing Sha scattered like flowers from a celestial maiden, tracing dazzling arcs in the air, resembling a grand fireworks display—except this "fireworks" carried a chilling aura of destruction.
At the same time, the hourglass that had been hanging in front of Xiao Meng shattered with a sharp crack! The fragments of the hourglass fluttered through the air like uncontrolled butterflies, spiraling erratically while shimmering with strange light, intertwining with the exploding Xing Sha in a surreal magical performance.
The space began to warp, crumpling like a wrinkled piece of paper, folding and overlapping to form bizarre whirlpools. Xiao Meng felt as though she were being sucked into a gigantic washing machine, spinning wildly as everything around her blurred into obscurity.
She struggled to steady herself, trying to grasp something, but found she could hold onto nothing. A powerful force was pulling her into an unknown abyss, an unprecedented sense of fear enveloping her tightly.
"Is this... going to be a crossover? Am I about to start a new chapter?" Xiao Meng thought frantically, overwhelmed by the intensity of the unfolding events. This Black-hearted Grandpa certainly didn’t play by the rules!
Just then, a gigantic Mechanical Giant Hand composed of Sunshine Star Sand reached out from the distorted space, its voice deep and hoarse: "Sister..."
